Just thought I would mention this. I have not seen anyone else try this. I have been using Corima absolute pads on my alloy rims.

Little review

I am using Ax Orion brakes which are not the greatest stoppers so take that into consideration.

First off they do not really bite into the rim, they feel like they were sliding along the rims before coming to a stop. I messed around with with my brake set up and I found setting my brakes a bit wider gave more bite and definitely improved the stopping power.
I have 2 hand-built wheelsets, Stans and kinlin xr200. They work better with the Stan's which have more wear on the rims. Maybe the suface is less smooth and there's more for the pads to grip to.
If you can handle a bike OK then they can work for you fine in the dry weather.
In the rain however they are useless and when wet you can see them wearing down every time you brake.
To sum up I would say they are really only a choice for weight weenies who are looking for every gram saved and can manage /cope with their limitations.
