Other than the "classic look", isn't this the same exact tire? Could it be because the pros are using the SC? I'm not sure I like the look of the SC, not to mention I'm studying up for my first Tub install on my 6.7s coming soon and I'm sure I'll get glue all over the side walls.

Just wondering what race day only Tubulars everyone is using?

I wouldn't say a few dollars is "so cheap" compared to. They're exactly the same price at Ribble Cycles, tubular reference for prices.

There are a few older versions of the CX ( the "1" and "II" version, as well as the 290TPI version) here and there, at lower prices. But check if they're still available. Maybe in 20 mm, 650c, yellow or blue version  . Usually the 700c, black 23 or 25 mm's are out of stock for good now.

I'm seeing the IIIs in black in 25mm for under 60 US dollars and the SC for about $104.

The SC is a much improved tire in the wet. I always found the CX to be terrible when the rain came down, and IIRC the pros did, too. Hence, the SC was a response to their requests. FWIW, the SR is also an improvement.

boysa: as per vitto specs the latest CX is also using the same "IsoGrip" rubber as the SC.

Thanks guys! I actually bought a set of Veloflex Carbons for the new wheels and the Zipps on my TT bike.
