I also preferred the Zipp`s. I think the poor braking performance of Enve is unacceptable for such price.
Firestrike is only available in clincher.

after about 4-months or about 4,000km, i think my 404 firestrike has developed some free play in the bearings. there is slight but noticeable vibration / noise when i put the power down or when cornering. since the bearings are sealed (no preload), i'm wondering if there is anything i could do other than to service the hubs? in my 303's all i have to do is tighten the preload bearings once in a while and so far so good even after >10,000km. just something to share in case anyone is still considering 404's
meanwhile, zipp has launched 404 Firestrike tubulars & clincher V2 and i can't seem to find the real differences between 404 firestrike clincher v1 vs v2 other than the new decals

Can't be done on fire strikes. They eliminated preload adjustment on those wheels.
Firestrike V2 update =
- new graphics
- new ceramic bearing provider - Ceramic Speed (although Zipp wouldn't tell me why they changed)
- new skewers
- new Zipp/ Silca valve extenders
- Tubular variant with new "Carbon Shield" carbon layup
- (I wish I knew about the V2 before I bought my V1's!)
@warsteiner - how are you finding the brake pad wear on the new wheels (and which pads are you using)?
I've only had mine for about a month now but they appear to be chewing through the standard Zipp Evo pads and I haven't really hammered them in the hills yet. I'm coming from a set of Zip 202FC with the same pads and these appear far more aggressive due to the Showstopper brake track.
Love the wheels so far, no complaints - although I've had the 202's for 2.5 years and not had a single issue with those either.

Hi Guys, i have a question regarding Zipp.
The 2015 Firecrest have now been revised due to problems, wheels develop play. So now we see revised hubs and a change of spokes.
My question, is it so that Firestrike hubs are built in the same manner as the 2015 FC version?
If so, it seems even 2016 Firestrike is a bit unsafe to buy... Perhaps 15 and 16 version of Firestrike is same?

The Firecrest hubs have been revised, not sure if it is because of "problems" as such. They took out the need for bearing preload and set it at the factory now, just like on the Firestrikes.
I assume the new 77/177 hubs on the Firecrest wheels are based on the V10 88/188 hubs that were designed for the Firestrike - V1 and V2.
Why are the Firestrikes "Unsafe"???

Did not say they are unsafe. But "if" the hubs of Firestrike were same design as the 2015 Firecrest, i would never consider them after what i was told this week.
What i ment by unsafe was simply, i would not like to buy a set of wheels that has an inbuilt design flaw.

It is written in short above, play in hubs. No meaning in going in deeper on what i was told. That is what it was in short. Around 15% of all sold wheels, they fixed some
wheels and they come back again so they replaced them. I would worry too much with that in mind.
