I've read that the Gray Archetype Rims have a better braking surface than the back ones. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm heavier than you at 195#. I built up a set with 20x28. Radial and 2x. Lasers and alloy nipples. Very happy with them.
There was a thread a while ago where we were trying to figure out what was different about the grey rims. I think the consensus was "not much". Mine are black & just starting to wear out the anodizing at the brake track after about 6 rides.

There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?
One.
So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.

Doing a build for the same purposes but am using the Pacenti sl23 instead. Pls post some pics when they're build
Norwood & Adelaide Uni CC
At the beginning of this year I had to build another Archetype rear wheel with the new rim version (475g). Previous one (450g) was smashed in the car crash. The black anodized finish, after one 80-100km wet ride went into the nice polished silver. The previous one just after few dry rides.
I've read that the grey anodized finish is a bit harder than the black one, maybe somebody will vouch for this? But do not expect miracles, sooner or later the anodized finished will come off.

I will be fine. I have done the build with pacenti rims abnd it filled full of want. Your weight should not be an issue with the archetype rim. If you are really worried use DT comp spokes or Sapim Race on the DS but it will be quite stiff even with lasers/revs.
