How high do you pump?
Moderator: robbosmans
I'm mostly using Hutchinson Secteurs as 60psi on the road. Man that's a nice ride and I'm no slower.
On the nice weather bike I have Veloflex Extremes that I pump to about 95-100psi. I don't break 100psi for any tire. I'm around 77kg or less.

Challenge Almanzo 30mm: 3bar front / 3.5 rear
Vittoria Pavé 27mm: 4 / 4.5
Conti 25mm tubs: 5 / 5.5
22-23mm tubs and clinchers: 6 / 6.5
I weigh a bit over 70kg, and roads smooth, gravel often on the rougher side.

72kg and GP4000s clinchers that say "pump us to 7-8.5 bar". So I pump ~8bar both (116psi). And so, in the last 3 years only one flat (but that was strange one). I remember the days when I pumped 5bar (72psi) and flatted 5 times per year. So I am not going back
25mm Conti 4 seasons, 79kg. 80 front, 85 rear, but then I only pump up once a week, so they're down to 65-70 for most of that time. Haven't had a pinch flat for years.
I really don't understand why people buy 25mm's then pump them up rock hard negating all the benefit!

To avoid pinch flats and damage to the rim.
For me, I want as much air as possible between my rims and the sharp edge of a pothole. Comfort and performance take second place.
I used to pump 80/85 psi on 25 mm Grand Prix'es and they were getting pinched, damaging the rim twice.
Im 67 kg btw.

I weigh 62kg however I run a very high pressure. Anything less than 120psi I have a flat tire! I know this is crazy but I need every bit of speed to keep up with the group rides that I do. Even if there's no speed benefit it does give me a psychological boost...
