So I'm running trusty Mavic OP Ceramic usually, but sometimes the (generic/basalt) carbon tubs need to come out of the bag. Brakepads of choice for the carbon wheels have been Reynolds blue, and they also work ok on the ceramic coating.

Since the ceramic coating doesn't let go any shards, would it be ok to keep the pads when swapping wheels? Maybe just run over the pads with some fine sandpaper quickly, to clean off the worst dirt?

Depending on how old/new your ceramics are, they might start spalling and losing small pieces of ceramic.
The later ones were quite bad for this.

I'd second what mattr said. Some of the ceramic coated rims did have major issues with losing the finish.

If it were me I'd just play it safe and get a separate set of pards for your carbon tubys. Better safe than sorry!
