This article was posted a while ago, I've heard rumours of a Q1 2015 release though

I'm hopeful this will mean a more innovative offering, maybe even sequential.

Great concept, gheez..get rid of all the junction boxes...wire routing etc..and then where do I put the batteries dilemma. They seem to have solved all the problems that plague electronic setups now mostly.

But of course, vaporware to the public...haha..

Given SRAM's very embarrassing hydro issues last year, I don't mind waiting a little for them to hammer out the details of this unit.

Looking forward to the day when I can ride with my two power meter pedals and HRM streaming to my bike computer which is at the same time streaming gps data to and from outerspace, meanwhile songza is streaming (also from space) to my iphone which in turn streams to my bluetooth headhpones. Really all that's missing are some god damn wireless shifters. Because it's not like I'm riding a bike to take break from technology or anything.

There's no technology in your bike?

Anyone else hearing rumors of FSA's semi wireless group?

Der's wired to battery with shifters running wirelessly off of CR2032's?

that would be the way to do it - one small battery/receiver/brain in the right chainstay to manage/power both derailleurs, and wireless shifters.

I am struggling to see the benefit of wireless shifting. More batteries etc. How much does a couple of metres of light 2 core cable weigh?.

I'm pretty indifferent about it as well. When electronic shifting first came out, I could see the appeal, as few frames were compatible with internal wiring. These days, any decently designed frame can accommodate mechanical or electronic by switching a few plugs. Once the wiring is in there, it doesn't seem like you have to fuss around with it at all, so maybe wireless would save 1-2 hours of work over the total lifespan of the bike? It's a feature, just not one that's going to sell me on their system.

Based on the article about the SRAM/Bissell team bikes, I asked my brother, a Trek dealer, earlier this week when he visited if he had heard anything about a similar wireless group from Shimano - that's what I'm waiting for. He said he hadn't heard a peep. I'm guessing 2016 at the earliest.
