Hi All,

Is it feasible to replace the front bearing cup? LBS recommends a new wheel, which seems a waste given the condition of the rest of the wheel.

Any advice welcome,
NZ

Cups, cones and balls can easily be replaced. No 'special' pullers or presses are required although a dedicated Campagnolo cup puller and cup press is available from Cyclus.

The question is whether the LBS is willing to charge only for those parts needing replacement or require you to buy a full hub rebuild kit (2 cups, 2 cones, 2 sets of balls, 2 inner seals). Around $120NZD for a full rebuild kit online. Then there's the fitting. Not cheap. As has been mentioned elsewhere on this forum, Campagnolo (in this case read: Fulcrum) is often technically rebuildable but economically disposable.

Hi Causidicus. They did say I'd need a new hub and spokes, so I guess they weren't encouraging a repair. I'll check out what they will do parts-wise and do some more sums. That Cyclus looks v. useful. Thanks for the tips and for getting back so soon, very helpful and much appreciated,
Cheers
