If you are going to use DB spokes then go 2-1.5-2 on the front and 2-1.8-2 on the rear.
But preferably the 2.-0.9-2.3-2 front and rear or not? And yes eventually I have decided to go for the 24/28 since most of the responds were to go this way. What will be the recommendation for the lacing pattern??

recommendation for
rider weight Tune/Alpha 340
- 20/24 spokes to 75 KG
- 24/28 spokes to 85 KG
- 28/32 spokes to 90 KG
I am 72-74 kg and took 24/28.

I'm having Zen build me this wheelset 20 radial front, 28 2x rear. Sapim CXRays. I'm 72 kg, club rider, hill rider, occasional racer. The config was partially on Zen's recommendation and partially on a local builder who laced quite a number of 340 rims, but moved away from the area before he could build mine. Plus he favored DT240s which are great hubs, but a bit overpriced, IMHO. Two or three of the wheelsets this guy built have been through the Battenkill (all running tubeless I believe) with no problem. I understand the 2nd gen 340, if built correctly, can be quite durable. Battenkill certainly is a legit proving ground as far as that goes.
Anyway, wheels should be here in a few weeks, I can give a run down then. They're going on a '13 Tarmac.

i can tell for Kinlin rims 220 - wich are almost same weight - 370-390g and maby stiffnes also
24 front ;28 rear for 70-80kg rider.
24 rear is just for really light riders
and why not use round spokes 1,5mm front & NDS ; 1,8mm on DS? they are not aero wheels so there is no need for aero spokes.

I built a similar set for a 175 lbs friend (24f/28r), but with the older Alpha 340 rim (lighter). The set came at around 1210g.
The rear wheel started creaking after 1000 km. We thought it was coming from the Mag 170 hub, but after lots of research, and help from Madcow, it came down to the tension decreasing on the Stan's rim. I re-tensioned the wheel last week. He didn't ride the wheel yet.
I don't know how stronger the new Alpha 340 rim is, but I'd recommend going a little stronger on the rear wheel for a 170 lbs rider.

Be careful using the Alpha 340 on downhills and around corners. LOTS of reports of rims blowing tyres off. I blew 2 off today. Im an experienced rider but hate to think of what could have happened if it was just before when riding at 60kph on a sweeper.
So be careful using this Alpha 340. Ive got the latest batch. I hear they are going to do a recall pretty soon so keep your eyes open.
