I was just over at the Flo blog and noticed they got the prototypes in for their 30. Frankly, these wheels seem like they blow Zipp's 101 and Boyd's Vitesse out of the water. They came in at 1585 grams, $500 and a nice wide rim.

Hey thanks for the mention. We actually just finished testing at the A2 Wind Tunnel yesterday. Wait till you see the aero data! It did better than we expected for a 30mm wheel. Here's a picture from the testing.

FLO/Canadian -

Will you sell rim only?
Do you have rim weights?

prendrefeu,

We will not be selling rims only. This is a new product and we will be doing our best to keep up with production/quality control and want to limit the variables out of the gate.

I hope that makes sense.

Yep... but I hear rumors of a lighter rim with a similar profile being available soon.

Any news? Newbie here so it might be in another thread.

Norm,

Thanks for writing. We just left the A2 Wind Tunnel with the FLO 30s which you can read about here (http://flocycling.blogspot.com/2013/04/flo-cycling-flo-30-wind-tunnel-results.html) AND you can find all of the details about the FLO 30 here (http://flocycling.blogspot.com/2012/10/flo-cycling-flo-30-previously-flo.html). We expect to start shipping the first FLO 30s in June.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Take care,
Chris

The new Pacenti sl23 rim seems to have a similar profile, but not quite as deep. It'll be interesting to see how they compare in aero and weight.

Very interesting aero results for the tyres!

After looking at the Pacenti sl23 rim I don't think it has a similar profile. It appears to me that the Pacenti sl23 has a shape more similar to a V or Hybrid V rim with parallel brake tracks. Here's an example in a picture to help. The old FLO CLIMBER was a Hybrid V with parallel brake tracks. The new FLO 30 is a fully wide toroidal rim with angled brake tracks which makes a big difference aerodynamically.

The Pacenti SL23 is rounded, but there isn't anything else funky going on with it.

The Flo 30 is more like the Zipp 101 rim below... which oddly didn't do that well for aero in Tour's testing.

Anyone know how the Flo30 compares to the 101 in the aero department?

Chris, Are these going to listed on the website for sale or is it a 10PST pre-order? I need two sets.

Cheers, Norm

What's the weight of the Flo 30 rims?

Unless Flo tested the 101 in the tunnel on their visit, I doubt anyone knows as only a few sets appear to be out there, and those are in the hands f reviewers/press. And even if Flo did test 3rd party wheels, unlikely they'll release the results.

Cool. Can't wait to see some reviews of the wheels once they're out the "wild".
