I am waiting to see what develops from FarSports' line of U-Shaped wheels, their weights and availabilities. No bias, just guided by experience.
For what it's worth, I also checked in with Archteks (who were known to produce excellent rims, particularly their tubular variety) as I haven't heard from them in a while. I'd like to see what they've got in comparison to these other providers in terms of a new 'aero' shape.

Compared to Zipp 404 Firecrest (the shape these copy) at 1525g, these 56mm ones with Novatec SL hubs and CX-Ray spokes, I calculated ~1660g (using the high-end weight of the rims), so its not TOO bad, I guess, just 1/3lb heavier for 30% the price.

Breakdown
2 x rims @ 582g/ea (560 + 22) = 1164g
Novatec A291SB-SL front hub = 60g
Novatec F482SB-SL rear hub = 230g
44 x CX-Ray @ 4.25g/ea (20,24) = 187g
44 x Sapim nipples @ 0.38g/ea = 17g

Total = 1658g

tubulars are a bit more competitive: 1355g VS 1380g

Weight: AR56-T :420g+_17g AR56-C:560g+_22g

seems like a very large difference for tubular VS clincher

Peggy from ICAN told me the 56mm 27mm wide rims are 480g per piece.

For me this Peggy deal seems weird. First those prices for wheelset!? Secondly she sent me this picture and I don´t think it´s the "zipp like" rim.

the "zipp-like" rims are 27.5mm at the widest point and 25mm at the braking surface. you're trying to distinguish a 1.25mm bulge in the side of the rim from a POV perpendicular to that bulge. if it's there or it's not, you're not going to see it in that photo :/

Yes I will. Compare this photo and one from HongFu and then photo of real Zipps. The area, where nipples are seated is much rounder on Zipps/F40. ICAN´s seems ordinary V-shape rim.
Just my opinion.

She must have sent you the wrong image, or was confused by your request. The pictures I've received from ICAN, HongFu and DengFu are all the same wheel. Again, these companies are only the trading companies (or distributors). None of them are actually making the rim themselves, from what I've gathered.

that's pretty damn heavy, no?

Zipp 404 C comes in at 525g. So if they are over by 20g, that would be the dream, and not over...then not too far out of line.

In general, they just don't have the same layup techniques and same materials used in these Chinese factories to produce them like the big name companies do when it comes to carbon.

If you got a set of them at around 560g, used Alchemy ELF and UL Lightweight Rear hubs with Sapim CX Ray and brass nipples, the weight for the pair would come it at:

F-722g
R-869g

1591g Total

That is assuming a 550g weight for the rim itself.

Some more shots of the 40mm aero wheel from HongFu ::

The finish quality does indeed look clean.

And this shot from DengFu displaying the girth of the rim next to a more traditional rim ::

I'm definitely looking to get a pair of the 40mm clincher rims from Hong-Fu. Then, have them built up with Alchemy Elf/UL Rear hubs along with CX-Ray spokes.

That would put the weight about 1450gms.

Should be a pretty sweet setup.

But, they need to actually get these things in stock and ready to ship.

All my communications with them have yielded is no answers over the past 6 weeks on actual lead time/supply.
