WTF?
Okay so I bought another new bike. Here it is :)

Now what to do with it........
First up - get rid of the DA Crankset - not because I don't like it - because I can't bear to look at those adapters poking out the side of the BB.

Anyone got a 175 Hollowgram SL crankset they want to sell me?

Looks great! liking it in white :D

I'd say junk the egg cup under the stem first, followed by the kysriums ;-)

Other than that.... sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I threw the bike on the scales yesterday and in it's current state it weighs 7.17Kg which considering the build is not too bad already.

I plan to replace the following parts;
FSA Stem with Zipp SL Speed Stem (25g?)
FSA Seatpost with Zipp SL Speed Seatpost (50g?)
PRO PLT Bars with Zipp SLC2 Bars (100g?)
Fizik Antares Saddle with Selle Italia Kit Carbonio Flow Saddle (30g?)
Ksyrium SLs with Zipp 303 Firecrest Carbon Clinchers (Should be no change)

My best guess is there is roughly 200g to be found in those swaps. I have no idea how much the original parts weigh.
I'm also thinking the Hollowgram SL crankset will save another 100g?

Any other ideas?

Mine won't make it to 13 but should get under the 6.8Kg (15lb) quite easily.

No trick...just wondering as they're quite common...

Edit: Don't worry, just noticed you have a CAAD so realised you have a thing for them.

It's been a while since I did these upgrades and I finally got the bike clean enough for a photo update.
New Zipp cockpit and SLR Carbonio saddle. Plus Zipp bottle cages with aluminium screws. Same weight as the CAAD with Eastons. :D
6.78Kg with Ksyriums
If I put the Soul s2.0 on it will drop another 160 odd grams.

I loved my susi and had her down to the fourteen range (a tad over) with the assaults and campy record... not too hard to do at all!

Image

but alas, all that remains of her is this...

Image

That was one of my favorite bikes... EVER... but she did make way for the Parlee which I have grown to love even more. When I first got on the Parlee, I thought I'd regret that purchase. I missed that "feeling of going fast" and the rigid ride of the susi, but after a few thousand miles, I realized that the Parlee was giving me all that the susi was and I have actually come to appreciate the added comfort and fine tuning of the ride.

For me, the Susi was like an American muscle car and the Parlee is like something much more refined though no slower at all.

Thankyou for posting that pic Matt! That is one of my all time favourite bike shots.
It gave me inspiration when I was choosing parts for mine.
Good to hear you are enjoying the Parlee. I know a few guys with them who also swear by them.
I don't know about your American muscle car analogy..... If you've ever ridden a Gallium Pro you'd know all about brute force and speed. The better comparison would be German Supercar M3, M5 or AMG Merc. Goes hard in a straight line takes corners pretty well too and although stiff you can live with it day to day :)

What happened? Did a carbon eating space bug get hold of her?

... yeah... you're right regarding the analogy. The Susi handles way better than any american muscle car. God, I really do miss her even with the Parlee - but that said, I'm certainly not looking back (the garmin don't lie).

It was one big motherf___ing bug that got her - black and about 6000lbs with chrome teeth and controlled by a blond on a cell phone.

Enjoy her!

That white painted Susi only weighed about 70 grams more than my parlee z5sl and without anything exotic, I have that at 12lbs right now... so I bet you could without too much trouble (money is a different issue) get her under fourteen. If you have a chance to pull the trigger on a hollow gram, do it! You won't regret it. Just have it installed by someone who knows what they are doing with them and you won't have the creaking issue. I put one on the parlee and I think the only thing that would even tempt me to change is a M3, but that would mostly be an aesthetic move admittedly and I really do love the no-nonsense look of the hollowgrams.

cheers

Ouch. Hopefully the insurance company was forthcoming and that is what funded your Parlee.
