Goal - Sub 5kg, under 7.5k usd (which works out to 10k in my local currency)

Was a choice between this and the Ax lightness vial but even the R version of the latter cannot go close to my current Madone H1 geometry, and with the silly low price of the Fuji SL the choice is clear.

Things aren't off to a promising start though

That weight is for a size 54 without bottle cage screws, seat collar, headset and the cable guide piece with straws for shift cables. Was hoping to get under 750g and now I'm almost 20g off in my calculations.

It is a budget ww build if I can't throw on a THM crank

Other parts of the frame...

An integrated chain catcher, light enough for me to keep it.
Image

Headset is pretty light too, not sure if I can get it lighter even with Extralite headset so it's staying.

This is definitely going out...

This solid piece goes onto the bottom to replace the cable guide if you're using Di2 - will it be ok to leave it out since I'm using a PF30 BB shell?

I thought this was a weightweenie+low budget build.

I have a Fuji Transonic and the included headset weighs 132g. Are the headset you have made a aluminum? How can there be such a big difference in weight between headsets? I wish to know if I could upgrade to the lighter one. Do you mind posting the headset measurements for me (i.e. ID and OD)? Btw my fork doesn't use a bearing crown. I don't know if the SL is the same way. Thanks.

Subscribed also. Thinking of starting on a similar project but unsure whether to use the Fuji or an Argon 18 Gallium Pro, similar weights & $'s. If this comes in under the 5kg target and on budget I'll pumped for you :)

3% off expected weight surely isn't the end of the world? Do rate Fiji's though, this one should be good.

And I can't wait to share my budget Lamborghini build. $10k 'budgetweenie'

Running a tight ship trying to get the weight within limit. One issue is that almost all the parts have been ordered so to be thrown off by 20g can be difficult. Wouldn't be the end of the world (or build) if it goes over 5kg but the fun is in the challenge.

Anyway, 10k is in my currency; 7.5k usd is tight if you wanna get top end stuff.

Ill try to measure the bearing cup OD. Extralite Ultratop and Ultrabottom were options I considered if they were heavy. Madcow also gave the suggestion of KCNC ones.

My friend build up his Izalco Max to 5.39kg and it only cost 2700 USD... I hope it doesnt take 5000 dollars to lose 390 grams.

dudemanppl: I think it is a bit unfair to compare it with the Izalco Max your friend built, since from what I see by googling an Izalco Max frame costs already about 3000Eur new + Red would be about 1400Eur extra. I assume your friend bought a used frame and has a big spare parts bin?

Nope, that is the complete purchased price. Nothing from the parts bin.

OK, but I guess then it must be many used parts. My point is that 5000 dollars is not the price of losing 390gr, but of losing 390gr and having new instead of used parts. Anyways, not important :D looking forward on how this turns out.

This contributes to the weight and cost of the project, but it is also the motivation to start the build.
