ATTENTION WWs! I need suggestion for weight reduction!

While waiting for my handbuilt wheels to be done, I am looking at some ways to shave a bit of weight without excessive cost. I dont want to change the ENVE part, here is what I have in mind, feel free to add any suggestion.

My ideas:

XX trigger to SEC grip shifters
cut my ENVE seatpost? (really not sure about this one, about 6cm available to cut)
Tune DC15 front QR and Tune rear QR
Take off the starnut and use Extralite ultrastar 2 instead. (possible? How do I remove the starnut?)
Lighter shift housing (wich one?)
tune my pedals with titanium spindle?
if changing to grip shifters, lighter grips such as extralite or KCNC

build list with known weights:

frame: rocky mountain vertex sanded and repainted: 1308g
fork: fox 32 rlc fit: 1440
handlebars: ENVE sweep cut to 660mm: 163g
stem: KCNC sc wing 100mm: 100g
seatpost: ENVE setback 30.9x400mm: 199g
saddle: ebay carbon: 103g
chain: KMC x10sl: 233g
rear der: sram XX: 181g
Front der: sram X.0 ?g
crankset: sram XX 175mm 29/42: ?g
pedals: egg beater 2: ?g
shifters: sram XX trigger: ?g
Brakes: sram XX: ?g
cassette: sram pg-1060 11-36: heavy ?g
tires: maxxis Ikon EXO: 538g each
wheels: dt swiss x1600: ?g
grips: ESI racers edge: 46g
rotors: sram XX: ?g

handbuilt wheels will be arround 1350g, mxxis Ikon non exo, tubeless, KCNC rotors, XX cassette.

Already have alloy bolt for bottle cages, top cap. Titanium bolts for rotors.

thanks for any suggestions

why not Extralite Ultra Pulleys 10T 9gr in Sram XX rear der i us it to and works super and my der coms now on 167gr normal 181gr and my pulleys are now 2 years old and stil work super

shift housing i us are Shimano SIS SP41 + PowerCordz 1.2mm us them now for some years and i love it

how to take out starnut is easy if under side of Fox is open get Long wood pole who will fit in steer tube then get hammer and hit top of wood pole til starnut comes out on underside of steer tube

thx!

will look into the extralite pulleys

Anyone thinks the egg beater Ti axle would be a good weight redux option?

Not sure I will ditch the xx trigger for cheap grip shifters.

The actual eggbeater weights are pretty much spot on with manufacturers claimed weight. I would not use the Ti for everyday use. I did and they only lasted a couple of months. So I got a new pair I use them for races and train on the eb3s.

You could go 1x10.

Once the head set is adjusted you can run it with out the top cap and starnut. I would leave the starnut.

Get bontrager foam grips. I just put them on my ht and they are pretty nice. They weighed something like 12grams!!!

Also get an xx cassette. It is my favorite part of the whole xx group. They last along time and they do not weigh much.

thanks fat tire

already have an XX cassette, wich will go on the handbuilt wheels.

I would LOVE to go grip shift but the new grip shifters are not light and I cant find a reliable third party solution.

maybe I'd get the new grip shifters anyways. Would I be stucked with using the pricey XX or could I used the new X.0 grip shifters with my XX drivetrain?

saddle: ebay carbon
chain: KMC x10sl
rear der: sram XX
Front der: sram X.0
crankset: SRAM QUARQ 175mm, 28/42 rings
pedals: egg beater 2
shifters: sram XX trigger
Brakes: sram XX
cassette: sram XX 11-36
tires: maxxis Ikon EXO 2.2

small updates.

new tires for my everyday wheels. Maxxis Aspen 2.1. They weight 480 and 483g so I will drop 111g over my maxxis Ikon exo. Only downside is the Aspen has more fragile sidewalls.

The Ikons are still good but I had 2 flats in 2 weeks and the tire is starting to show some cracks. It has rougly 3000km

I also needed to change my rear derailleur puller. I installed some KCNC 11T ones, IIRC they are 7g lighter then the stock XX ones.

Now I need to sort out my front wheel bearing issue. Cant ride the wheel without trashing the bearings. I need to fine tune the preload.
