Well, I convinced myself to get a TT bike for racing next year. My goal was to stay on a reasonable budget while still getting the most aero (and weight) benefit out of a setup that I could. I'd been looking at slightly used framesets (09ish P3s, Transitions, etc.) or chinese unbranded when I came across some new, old stock, 2009 Columbia Highroad Plasma 2s on ebay. I couldn't pass it up.

Here's the build list so far:

I'm planning on using I-Link and mini I-Links for housing and cables. I've already stripped down my current tt bike and will transfer everything over except I bought the Campy return to center shifters.

Haha, yep. I wondered if you'd had the same idea when I saw your posting.

You should put your build up. Do you have a link to the old one?

And just to clarify, I-links with powercordz or regular cables?

While your choice of brakes are okay I might lean towards something more aero like a center pull. I'm using the Simkins Egg brakes. I would love to see a picture of your aerobars since I am not familiar with them although bars are very subjective to the user so if they work for you then thats great.

Yes, the brakes weren't really a choice, so much as they were what I had laying around. Definitely intend to change them out at some point. How's the stopping power on the Simkins? They look nice, and not too expensive. Any other good options?

Also yes, the aerobars are non-adjustable, except a little width on the forearm rests. They've got pretty good size charts on their site and I know what length clip-on aerobars I was comfortable with this year. So, we'll see, fingers crossed. They shipped yesterday (as did the frame), so I should have them soon. I'll make sure to take pics.

How about an aero chainring for my compact crank? KCNC blade?

I love these Plasma 2s, much more so than the new ones

anyway, if I was getting a wheelcover again (I've got one of the plastic Wheelbuilder ones), I would get a carbon one from these guys

The Simkins brake works well. In reality it is a single pivot so it takes care setting up and you can bump it off center. I haven't but if not careful it could happen. I really never explored other options. The KCNC blade is not a bad option for a tt ring. I have a Sram Quarq that came with Red rings. They are pretty deep so I don't see a huge advantage to changing plus I would then need to send my crank in to be re-calibrated although over winter since this bike sits it could be an option.

Thanks, I'm really looking forward to it. Based in US, so might be kind of expensive to ship something bulky like that. Plus, I don't want to spend too much money on a cover because I might be getting a good deal on a disc, my team has been working on a wheel sponsor for next year, waiting to see what they offer. What size wheelbuilder cover do you have? I was hoping that 400g might be for the largest diameter and one for my 404 might be a bit lighter (would be almost 25% less material than one for a box section rim).

Good to hear on the Simkins, I'd really like to see your setup. Epecially once you have them on the same frame 8) I've got a Red ring laying around too. I'll probably try that out first, it will definitely be better than the old Force ring currently on that crank.

Updated a few weights above as I was stripping the bike. Crankset is an estimate based on the addition of a KCNC Blade chainring. Interesting note, it had an older GXP BB at 123g, the new team is 108g for around $30. $2/g, not bad.

I weighed the Rival brakes without pads since the corima are listed separately. Zipp Skewers were actually around 112g, so figure I'll change them for the Far and Near skewers at 42g ($1/g).

If a couple more parts come in under weight I'll be pushing 16lbs.

FWIW Since my Quarq is a Sram crank I use an Omni Racer ceramic bearing bottom bracket. Everyone I know eats the standard GXP bottom brackets up. The Omni came in at something like 88 grams. A whole season on it and it still spins smooth.
