Mis-matched tyres

I've made some changes over the winter so though I'd repost. Unfortunately cash has been needed elsewhere so changes are largely cosmetic:

- New seat post. (logos removed)
- New saddle. (logos removed and refinished
- Paint removed from Ritchey wet black stem. Now matte black
- Paint removed from Ritchey wet black handlebars. Now matt black
- Silver stem face plate refinished matte black
- Brooks honey leather bar tape

Planned future changes
- Possibly logo removal from group set but still undecided
- Logo removal on bottle cages
- Fibre lyte chainrings
- Tune and fit the Sram Red rear derailleur I bought
- Replace silver front derailleur clamp with a carbon one.
- New wheels. Possibly Lightweight Standard III
- Get a Campagnolo front derailleur with a carbon cage
- New handlebars

I've got one of these. It would be sod to have a crash and have the bars twist, as the brake caliper arm would very possibly brake off the RH downtube cable ferrule. But it would be asking a lot for Mrs Wong to think of that design detail.

So how did you work that out?

The makers of the FM028 make about 6000 carbon fibre units each year which are all built to EN Standards and which are nearly all sold to US and European companies.

That's a really nice looking bike, I really like the shape of this frame. Also the tape works surprisingly well.

Nothing at all, they're just a bit heavy. Could easy loose 500g plus with some new wheels.

Thanks!!! One day I want to end up with a 'nice' bike but I can't afford to do it all in one go. The frame and wheels will be bought at separate times but I figure I'll get better use out of a lighter set of quality wheels than I will a 'better' frame so will buy the wheels first. One day they will be on a frame that doesn't offend you!

I think kgt was trying to communicate that Lightweights are too nice for a cheap frame (which I compeltely disagree with) but I may be wrong. Hard to tell the vocal inflections that go with typed speech.

By the way, I am curious as to how you removed the logos from the Ritchey bar and stem. Is it correct that they started out wet black but ended up matte?

Finally, I think your bicycle is absolutely stunningly beautiful. Matte black alwasy makes me weak in the knees.

Yeah, I knew what he meant but was trying to explain why I would put such expensive wheels on a cheap frame, it would be just until I can afford something better cos I can't do it all in one go. Although his comment did p!55 me off when I first read it!

The stem and bars were indeed previously wet black. I just brushed some paint remover on and it bubbles off within a couple of minutes. I'm sure they all work the same but the specific product I used was nitromors.

How do you like that saddle? That's the Token x-wing saddle, no? I think it goes by another name as well... anyway, it supposedly is super flexible.
How does it ride? What's the longest ride (hrs) you've done on it? What saddle did you come from before switching over to this one?
