to put the title into context, these four year old wheels from a focus izalco extreme are infact destined for the main project -
a Pegoretti marcelo for the summer
as i also already had the original trek frame, i am not too much out of pocket on what you see here.

the finished article exceeded what modest expectations i had when i decided to rub the paint off the frame.
i hope the photos convey to you at least some of the enjoyment, now hopefully i am going for a ride

Wow, this is really stylish!

Personally, I just dont like the Arione :?
And Arundel botllecages would be better IMO.

Otherwise, perfect!!

I don't usually like treks, but every trek I see built with Campy makes me melt. Not sure why, maybe it's just so non-ordinary that it does something for me. Something that always surprises me is the quality of the carbon work on older treks (not sure about newer treks, maybe the same...) it's just appears so much better than other mainstream brands...

Really nice bike, just the bottle cages are not that elegant in my opinion. Looks better than Treks from today...

I think the sidewalls just match fine with the kevlar part of the spokes and it gives some contrast to the rest of the black bike.

honestly? the side shot is not that flattering to the trek in my view, especially around the head tube where the proportions don't look quite right

i agree with you 100%: i had the saddle from six years ago, and cages from my previous build. saving money or lazy, you decide? maybe now i will be stirred to replace them

first ride today in the cold sunshine on a new set of 32 spoke hand-builts with cheap tubs - as the roads are still suffering from winter debris.
these are the wheels it will keep when the summer comes and the new peg inherits the lightweights.

trying light low profile tub rims again on UKs crater filled backroads felt excellent, they roll real nice and they are alot cheaper to run for what is a clear number two bike

the trek is still sweet but perhaps visually less convincing without deep section wheels. see what you think? maybe we are all just posers

thanks for looking at my bike, i enjoyed reading the comments and suggestions

I had the same thought ;)

Looking great with classic wheelset too
Which tubs are you using on the LW wheelset?

C`mon, be a man, make that side shot :beerchug:

Really nicely done.

What did you use for the clear coat?
