Hi guys, this is my race bike from this year. I am on Jamis Hagens-Berman Team in the US. This is the bike I road in the Tour of California, Tour of Utah and the US Pro Challenge among others. With the C24 Shimano wheels it is just at the legal UCI weight or maybe just under.
It is the Jamis Xenith SL. What do you think?

Great looking bike. A buddy of mine rides the version with the brakes hidden in the fork and loves it. I would love to take it for a spin as it looks like a top-notch bike but alas he is about 6 inches shorter than me...

Did you guys ever try the version with the hidden brakes, or were you given the conventional mount front brake from the get-go?

So we had the hidden brake ones for the first few months of the season but wheel changes with them are actually a little slow so we went back to the old forks. The brakes on the stock (hidden) brake ones are actually really really strong. I had to re-learn to brake with less power from my hands because they are so strong. Once we had it dialed they are the way to go, just a bit too slow for wheel changes.

Very nice. That seat tube looks a bit slacker than you find on a lot of top bikes these days.

Also, I've noticed that some of the American Pro teams sponsored by Shimano aren't using Di2, is there a reason why? Maybe budget reasons?

I think it is budget but I am not sure. We know what we are told only. I think we are all fine with mechanical since that is all we know pretty much. We've never had problems so far.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for sharing. Looks like you took Peel Diamond's book to heart.

I have been looking at this frame lately. I like that Jamis supports domestic racing every year.

I am curious about the brake situation; too bad you aren't sponsored by a "wide rim" company. If you had a 23-25mm rim the brakes wouldn't need to be opened to change the front, assuming your team car gave you a spare. But who can complain about DA hubs? Questions:

Do you usually receive wheel changes from neutral support, team car, or other?
What length stem are you running?
What's the largest rear tire you can squeeze in the rear?
What's the deal with the seat-post clamp - is it just a funny shape?

And finally... number plates and hand pump?

Cheers!

Where the hell is the rear brake? Hidden behind the chainset?

Yes, it is behind the bottom bracket, mounted to the chainstays.
