It might be a stupid question..is it safe to place the stem directly on top of the headset without any spacers underneath it?

Yes, why should it not be safe.

I don't see either why it shouldn't be safe, it's just that, i read a manufacturer feedback on "Busted Carbon " about a broken fork steerer, saying that you're not supposed to place the stem on the headset directly... I don't see the logic behind that..
I'm only asking because i'm building a Canyon bike now and the top part of the headset is quite tall as it is and i would like to do without spacers beneath the stem..
On the Canyon website the bikes can be seen without spacers, so i should have no worries, i know..mind you, i haven't seen any Canyons on here without spacers..well hell...i'll be a first

Amazing build, yours, BTW

Very nice indeed......there are not many (non Italian) bikes I take a second glance at, but this one I did. Its a lovely bike and I bet its a great ride.

Best wishes and enjoy - thanks for the pics!

Bravo on having the stem slammed onto the headtube, it's the only way to have it!

Nice bike and nice weight without any too exotic component.

This may be about what's above the stem, rather than underneath it. The theory is that there's a mechanical advantage to placing a small spacer between the stem and the top cap so that stresses from the stem aren't directed at the more fragile immediate end of the steerer tube (or something like that...)

Not usually a Cervelo kind of guy, but this is a lovely bike. The 3T combination works really well IME.

I have used the new ultimate bottle cages and I lost a few bottles with those. They are light though.
