Battery casing and harness weight removed- 29 grams for a total of 61 grams saved by removing the battery mount, harness and casing.
That puts the modified Di2 group at or below 7900 weight.

I will re-configure the battery to fit in the seattube/seatpost and use quick connectors when it needs a charge-

Will you change the standard batteries for the Li-Po that somebosy talked about in the "Shimano Di2 tuning" topic?

No. I have 2 x Di2 bikes so I want to keep the charger and battery harness the same for both.

I re-wired the batteries, added the water proof quick connector and tested it on my other bike and it all works.
Then I shrink wrapped the package and cut a small piece of foam pipe insulation and wrapped it so it fits up the seatpost.
I also added a quick connect to the circuit board and harness for charging in 6+ months.

Amazing, I love this thread for all the modifications and ideas.
It also saves me posting a question about stripping paint off a CF frame
(I'm surprised by how much all the graphics and lacquer weigh, by the way).
Perhaps I missed it, but are you going for a clear coat (matt or glossy)
or are you leaving the carbon fully exposed?
I personally don't like Di2 for it's wires and maintenance (battery charging).
I think it would have made far more sense if they made it coded wireless
(with some very good coding may I add ). And perhaps a solar charger .
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the encouragement. I had some ?s about the quick connectors. I wanted something light and waterproof. I didnt like some of the micro connector options. I picked these up at NAPA auto parts. They are trailer hitch connectors and are quite light and easy to pull apart. I needed 3 pairs.
The same connectors are used to attach the cels to the harness and PCB (protection circuit board) so the battiers can be charged with the standard Shimano charger. There is just one more lead that shuts off the charger when they batteries are fully charged.

Bravo Nathan. You've managed one heck of a job on this project between the paint stripping and the wiring harness work. Fantastic ingenuity and attention to detail. Not to mention brass balls for doing both to brand new parts and frame.
