This bike belonged to my late cousin Randy, who passed away from multiple myloma (bone cancer) back in February of 2007. Randy sent it to me 6 months before he died. It was in awful condition. Funny as he told me to fool with it, but don't go crazy... (yeah right... it was me he was talking to...). Two years later, I just finished a long process of collecting the right bits and rebuilding the bike to like new condition, better than original, end-to-end, as a tribute to his life and memory.

If it peaks your interest, read the story and details about the build and specs on the Serotta Forum. The post is over there as that forum is all about handmade cycles. Likely most of you don't have accounts over on Serotta, so the pics are posted here.

But anyway, I take so much pride in the details of this period-correct build, I thought I'd share with my WW homies.

Perfection! And I love the Edco groupset

Rich - very nice indeed. You've done it properly as well. That's a fitting tribute to your relative. Masi is not well known now, but they have a revered reputation.

Beautiful. I'm going to be doing a second restoration on my ~1979 (give or take a year) Raleigh Super Course this summer before I move out of my parent's place. The components and frame are definitely not on par with this bike, but your restoration work is motivating nonetheless, Rich! It looks exquisite.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys. I can sit and stare at it for hours at a clip.

One more point, I have no intention to ever ride it. I have never, ever put a leg over it. Just too nice... It's irreplaceable, and the groupset is 31 years old. While I'm sure it rides smooth as silk, it would prolly feel like a paper clip compared to my bikes. Plus, back in the day, Randy would never let me touch it! LOL.

You did an amazing job restoring this masterpiece, Randy would be proud.

If it was mine the GF would not be asking me to take it out of the living room, she would be telling me to take it out from under the bed sheets.

Just excellent!

Another testimony to how much art our sport/passtime actually incorporates.

But part of me thinks Randy would want you to take her out for a spin....too nice to leave inside :(

A truly special classic bike built the way it should be.

I wouldnt want to be on your wheel when your riding this and get the extra burst from Randy.
