I have a 56cm top tube Wilier Cento. This is a 57 Master x-light which has a 55,7cm top tube. The headtube is rather short (14,3cm) but using a high stack headset like colnago it is just fine.

Hi kgt,
That geo chart you have there is wrong. Somehow, Colnago made a mistake with that chart. You pulled up the latest chart for the Master X-Light from there 2009 website correct? The 57 cm frames have a longer Head Tube than what is stated there. Both of my size 55 Colnagos (one is an '08, the other an '05) have exactly the same measurements and they have a 142 mm head Tube length not a 126 as that chart says. Most everything else is correct with the numbers. It is interesting that this mistake only shows up with the Master chart and not the C50, Ext P chart. I believe that the C50. Ext P should have the same geo as the Master. The only thing that should be different is the EPS and CX1 that has the integrated headset.

Nice frame though! I will have one in my stable someday.

Can't say anything about your 55 size master but my 57 size master (2003 model) has exactly the dimensions presented in the diagram.

55,7cm top tube c-c
55cm seat tube c-c
14,3cm head tube o-o

It was not an easy task. Really hard to find period correct parts, shiny italian bits.
After 6 months I am happy with the final result!

Hi, I know this is a dead thread but could you please tell me what your chainline for the chainrings are?

I'm building a 2010 MXL with PRZA color code, the build will be a 70s retro look with modern and NOS vintage parts. Also planning to keep it fairly below 8 kg. I have compact Tune Fastfoot cranks and a 105 mm Sixpack BB as a reference but I can only do my calculations by measuring since the cups aren't Italian. I'd really appreciate if you could help me with a proper chainline data, so I can order an Italian threaded BB.

53 chainring > chainline = 5cm
39 chainring > chainline = 4,2cm

...using tune cranks is not a good idea for this frame.

Thanks a lot for the prompt response.

I'm well aware that using anything other than Campy cranks isn't considered a purist way of building a Colnago, but I'm not a purist and I think Tune crank looks much better than what Campagnolo has been offering for the last decade. I'd be glad to know what you think though. Always open for ideas...

By the way, here are a few parts I'm going to use, it's going to be a blue frame with yellow cables and tape, gum hoods and brown saddle, polished rims with tan wall tubulars:

2010 Record 1" threaded Headset
2010 Athena Brakes
2010 Athena F/R Derailleurs
2000 Chorus Ergopower shifters (10s alloy arms) - Gold brown Hudz hoods
2000-2007 Record Hubs 32h
Tune Titanium Cassette (TiCN coated)
Tune Seatpost (On the market for a mint Colnago panto Campy seatpost)
Selle San Marco Regal brown suede saddle
3TTT Colnago Pantographed stem
Cinelli 26.0 Handlebars w double cable grooves
Benetto yellow tapes
Jagwire yellow cable housing
Fiamme Red Label (late version) rims
etc.
