very nice
i prefer very minimalist cages. There is a very nice CF cage by token that is very light 19g, and well priced. they're on my new specialized pro sl, recently posted. The logo's will be removed shortly. Planning to complete my build tomorrow.

Coloclimber - putting together a kit for a new EPS AMSL. That colnago seatpost is perfect. Where did you find it?

Pretty much if I had a dream bike it would be a Colnago EP or EPS.
Build:
Record
3T Stem/Post/Bars or FSA Stem/Post/Bars
Wheels: Campagnolo Bora, Hyperion, Neutron or Fulcrum Racing Speed, Zero.

Pretty much I would try to keep it as Italian and Euro as possible.

first of all, i am not a big colnago fan. but this bike is pure beauty! put a record seatpost on it and some nice wheels (for axample campy hyperons with italian tires vittoria corsa evo cx) as well as a nice set of elite cages (i prefer pase over pataos) and it is just perfect! enjoy the ride - and the looks!

Thanks for all of the comments.

The EP ended up with Record Brakes, seat post, and Elite carbon cages. It really rounded out the bike very well.

But, now some of the parts have been robbed off of it for other things and it is in need of a rebuild. I was hoping to get some suggestions.

Here is where things stand now:

The Centaur 10 speed shifters were taken off to go on one of my CX bikes..... ( Then the right shifter failed in a race and I ended up replacing both of my CX bikes with Sram parts out of frustration with the soft clicks and cable friction problems of the new Campy shifters)

So, the bike is missing shifters. The other 10 speed Record parts are still on it. (front and rear ders, brakes, cranks, etc)

It seems that I have a few options going forward with the rebuild.

1. Get some NOS 10 speed Record shifters and be happy. (although I REALLY liked the ergonomics of the new style levers... )

2. Get another set of Centaur 10 speed and *hope* the running change I've heard about in the shifting mechanics makes them better

3. Record/Chorus 11. I could keep my Record brakes and 10 Speed crankset.

4. Sell all the Campy stuff and put Sram Red on it. This is attractive since my CX bikes are now Sram... and I really like the Sram hoods and shifting. But, I just don't know if I can bring myself to put Sram on a Colnago! Also, this is going to be the most expensive, since I'd have to get a couple more free hub bodies for my Record hub wheels and my powertap.

I could also get Red shifters/ders and keep the Record crank and brakes for the interim.... not very Elegant, but the Record crankset is so much nicer than a Red.

Other things to consider: I need to get some new road race wheels for next season.... so that's a wash between the options. Something like the Shamal if I need Campy.... and DA7850 CL if I switch to Red.

We all can make dumb decisions out of frustration so I dont fault your CX choices.

I would go with Option 1 or 2. Dont even consider option 4 as an option.

Hey now :D I almost got another set of Centaur levers for it... but didn't want to take the chance that they would be the same as the old ones. 11 speed isn't an option for me on the CX bikes as I'd have to buy two groups.... and I go through a LOT of chains during a CX season.

Last one isn't really an option for this bike.... just thinking out loud. I do really like the Sram stuff, and I love the new Shimano wheels. But, I'm 90% sure I'm going to get some Record 11 for it. All I really need is the shifters/ders/cassette. My brakes and crank are fine.

The grass is always greener I suppose. I did at least get enough out of mine to buy a Record 11 kit and a nice Tarmac Pro frame set. Still.... looking back... stupid :)

Ouch! Yes on the "d'oh, what was I thinking" sentiments. That was one of my fav colour schemes in the EP. Oh well, if it makes you feel any better I sold my first C40 to a friend. It was the NL4 color scheme. Loved that scheme too. That was back when I thought it was silly to have more than one nice bike. Sold it to get a C50. Never sold another Colnago since, and acquired a few more in the process.
