It was definitely easier when I was nearer the front (that was 6th place there). It was round your neck of the woods as well at Hillingdon.

I'm back next week to try again. I know that I'm not fit enough but there is no way I would make myself ride at that sort of effort during training so it's all good.

Are you sure you were in a race? By the contented looks on everyones faces, it looks more like a club run!

Feel free to abuse me in return for that comment. I havn't raced in years. Many would say I didnt actualy race when I crossed the start line!

Hillingdon is a great place to race and gain experience aswell as fitness, the atmosphere amoungst riders is also good there, nice and relaxed. If your in the 4th cat race, try not to drop below the top 10 or you risk getting too close to some sketchy wheel rubbing action.

Also learn to take the hairpin flat out so you can pull 5-6 bike lengths on the field with no effort!! :D

There were only 13 in my race which made it a bit odd. No room for error at all.

I'll take the hairpin flat out next week and see how I get on

Alot of people run too much tyre pressure around there, you dont need 140 odd psi at all unless your 20 stone. Im ~70kg most of the time and I run 100 if its dry and 90 if it aint.

I'm 87kg and ran 105 on the front and 115 on the back. I was concerned as my tyres say 8 - 10 bar (116 to 145psi) It was damp.

Sounds about right for your weight round there. Maybe drop the rear to 110 so long as you dont hit the rim if you clip one of the curbstones on the inside of the track.
