My race bike has recently undergone a few changes, including Syntace F99 stem, duraflite carbon bars, Hayes stroker Trail brakes (160/140) and a comfier seat for off road :) It isn't the most weight weenie by any means but i've gone for my usual "best bang for the buck" approach with this one. I love this bike. It rides real nice. Not the greatest of pics but you get the idea. 9.6kg.

Handlebar is a great choice as well as the stem. I have Duraflite as well and thinking of changing the stem.

Also, why not blue chainring bolts like KCNC or A2Z?

You can shave some weight on pedals and seat.

Being a fellow GT owner all I can say it is looks great!

OT If I were to go to a two ring front set up what is the smallest middle ring available in four bolt?

I love that build! Light and durable, seems like a build I would like to do in the future. If you don't mind, how much did it run you?

Just back from a training ride, so gave it the full cleaning treatment and took the chance to take some decent pics. The Syntace stem/bar combo feels fantastic, the stem feels a lot stiffer than my old FSA XC-115. Very pleased with how the bike is riding. Think I have it exactly how I want it now.

For the 2x9 setup, those are FSA Gossammer triple road cranks with the big ring removed. Not sure how small you can go on the granny ring, but i'd say at least 24t. Once the rings wear out, i'll change them for TA's probably to save a few more grams. The whole setup weighs 790g at the moment with the dura ace BB and the standard FSA rings. It cost me under £100 total as well. The q-factor is the main reason I changed to this setup, these are 159mm! I have narrow hips so wide cranks hurt my knees, and feel like i'm pedalling with my legs spread :? I agree about the chainring bolts, i'll change them out for blue/silver ones soon.

As for how much it cost, i'm not sure as this setup has kind of "evolved" from a year of racing and training, so i've changed a few parts. At a rough guesstimate, you could likely build this bike for under £1500.

I probably won't change much now, aside from a new set of race wheels when the season starts. I'll likely go for Stans Olympic (or race), DT revs and Hope Pro II's again - they are really durable hubs for the conditions I ride in.
