All stock so far. First changes will be for better fit. Each replacement should be lighter than what I've got but not extremely expensive.

Crankset. I want a 175 compact. FSA K-Force Light 34-50 already on order.

Seatpost. 300 is too short. Need a 350. Considering Ritchey WCS Carbon, Easton EC90, Thomson Masterpiece, FSA K-Force Light.

Stem. Going to go a little shorter to a 100 or 90. Probably going for a Ritchey WCS 4-Axis.

Next upgrade would be wheels. Can't stand the bladed spokes in windy San Francisco/Bay Area. Also can't fit my Garmin 305 cadence/wheel sensor because the seatstays are too far from the crank when positioning the wheel sensor on the round part of the spoke. Want light as possible for less than $1K.

Will replace pedals with Speedplays soon. Haven't decided which ones.

Also would like to replace the bar at some point. I really like the short-reach, shallow drop of the Specialized S-Works SL Advanced, but the Deda Supernatural seems to be similar dimensions for less money.

I'm 6' 0.5'' / 140lbs / 34 y.o. I use my bike for commuting to work, after work rides, and longer weekend rides.

The Litespeed was stolen a month after I got it. It was such a beautiful frame (I spent days removing the decals) and a noticeably more comfortable ride, but the Scott geometry works much better for me. I need it short reach and tall, I'm all legs.

Not too mention the Scott is lighter and more responsive/stiffer

Ha if you want pics of my old Specialized bikes well, ok, but those old workhorses aren't pretty. (Although the Stumpjumper has some special items of curiosity for nostalgic bike geeks) I'm seriously considering getting rid of them. My tiny kitchen could use the space. Every time I move the Stumpjumper I wonder how I ever thought it was lightweight; my god what a tank compared to todays road bikes!

Just replaced the stem with a 90mm Ritchey 4-Axis. Much better fit.




Trimmed down the cable housings but think I cut the one to the rear brake too short...




I installed Pitlocks earlier this week; still need to trim skewers.





Just swapped the DA 172.5 53/39 for a K-Force Light 175 34/50 today. The 175 is a better fit, and the compact makes much more sense in San Francisco. So psyched - had a blast hill climbing after work.




Gotta replace this seat; need one with a cutout - suggestions? I'm looking at the Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbon Flow, or a Specialized Toupe.

I always recommend the Toupe to people looking for a cutout saddle. I have several and love them. Get the right size for your sit bones, any specialized dealer should have this thing you sit on to measure the bones. Nice bike BTW, I can imagine the compact has made a big difference in SF!!!! Love the Anodized BB too, always nice when a higher end product comes with a nice touch like that.

Thank you for the recommendation re: Toupe saddle. It's nearly half the price of a SLR Kit Carbon Flow but 30-80g heavier, depending on whether it's the base, gel, or team. I told myself any replacements had to be lighter but I guess that went out the window when I put the Pitlocks on. But they're practical; can't always put a little u-lock around two wheels and a pole, and I need to be able to take this thing to the grocery store occasionally. So a few grams more for a comfy saddle makes sense. The SLR I have now isn't as comfy as the $45 Forte SLX (207g) I rode for years.

Regarding anodized crank bearing cups: when I was doing research I read a lot of posts from people who didn't like the red. It's true, they don't necessarily match the color theme (if there is one) of the stock build, but I think it's a fun little touch of bling. I bought the KFL's because I wanted a compact 175 and it dropped about half a pound off the DA!

Next on the list: saddle, pedals, wheels!

Wheels... American Classics seem too good to be true - 3 lb wheelset for $350 or so! I'd like to see if I can get a sub-1400g set without breaking the bank. I'd like a more comfortable ride than the Ksyerium SL's, but they still have to hold up to commuting over bad city streets. Anyone?

hooray for vinyl. i was collecting heavily as a dj between '92 and '04. can't say I play it as much as I used to (all digital these days), but I couldn't bear to get rid of it. there's a story behind every one. i figure i have around 5000 pieces.

Saddle: Specialized Toupe. Had to have the cutout.

Wheels. '07 Bonty XXX Tubulars. Had to get rid of the Ksyrium SSLs (relatively heavy and vulnerable to crosswinds).




On deck: '05 Zipp 303s. Still have to reglue the rear; the old glue has to come off and it's taking some doing!
