I've been a reader for some time. Just finished my CR1
project this weekend. Have not even ridden the bike yet,
too busy. I tried to build the lightest bike that I can ride all
summer on club rides and centuries. I do a fair amount
of climbing, so I went for deeper gearing. It weighs 13.8 lbs.

Any thoughts?

You lose some style points for having valve stem caps. :P

That's a light build. Any idea of the weight? Could be under 6kgs...

BTW, maybe it's the camera angle, but it looks like your brake blocks need aligning.

Why the Dura Ace FD instead of SRAM Force? Lighter weight? Better shifting with the big gap between 50/33 chainrings?

Hilliest rides are in mountains in western Maryland and some north shore Long Island rides that are all hils. These gears get me close to triple (30x27) without the weight. About half my friends ride triples in the hills we do. My CAAD8 has a straight compact on it, which was fine for Long Island but a bit painful on a 13 mile climb in the mountains. Also planning a trip to Jasper/Banff, which should be a bit steeper than the usual. :)

Weight is 13.8lbs, 6.2 kg.

I see what you mean about the pads, but that is just from the camera angle above the bike.

The bike came with Dura Ace and the weight saves from switching out the FD were minimal. It shifts great on the stand, but have not been out on the road yet.

Very nice.
I have almost the same bike but with AC350 wheels, Zipp cranks, EC90 bars and KCNC seatpost.
Currentlly running Dura Ace STI while I wait for my Force shifters and rear der.
I live in Calgary, close to Banff, lemmeno if you want to hook up for a ride.
