My first road bike, I'm so happy. Been an avid mountain biker and decided to get a road bike. Spent the entire 2006 looking at this bike and I finally pulled the trigger. I decided to support a Canadian company because I'm Canadian.

What I bought:
-2006 Cervelo Soloist Team (aluminum version) 54 cm - all stock unmodified yet
-Time RXS Carbon Road Cycling Shoes (anyone tried these yet?)
-Look KEO Sprint Road Pedal (I had my heart set on Dura-Ace until the shop wouldn't budge on price, and we weighed the KEO sprint vs the Dura-ace and the Looks were lighter)

Upgrades not installed:
-Michelin Pro Race tires
-Fullcrum R3 wheels
-Tacx Toa bottle cages
-2 specialized turbo presta tubes

Questions:
-Are the Time RXS shoes any good? The sole said DMT carbon, so I assume it's made by DMT? I tried on SIDI, as well as specialized and I wasn't comfy in them. I have a very flat arch and the SIDI and specailized had a higher arch. The Time fit well so I bought them. I tried to look for any reviews on them nothing.
-Will a KCNC 2Ti+4SC+4Alloy 11-23T cassette wear too fast for every day road rides?
-What is a good bar and stem setup? I use the syntace duralite carbon bar and F99 stem on my mountain bike. I see they offer road bike parts as well, and I always liked Syntace
-What is the best brakes that is shimano compatible? Dura-Ace?
-Where is a good place to loose weight?

Nice bike. I long for a Soloist since it seems so multi purpose and can be easily converted to a time trial bike.

Best place to loose weight is to look at all the rotating parts first and then the static.

Shoes are subject to fit and comfort. If the fit you well and they are comfortable to you all day then you made the right choice. Same for the bars. They too are subject to the individuals prefernce in shape reach and drop. With that said I like the Zipp SL and a Ritchey 4-Axis stem.

It would be helpful if you posted a full build list for anyone to make suggestions on weight reduction. If you really just bought the bike ride it and look to make upgrades later as you wear parts out but do make upgrades right away that improve fit.

How much you can upgrade really depends on your budget, but welcome to the board, you'll find allot of options soon :)

But with the Time shoe's, I wouldn't worry, you've bought them and if they're comfortable, thats the major thing for a first set of shoes

The KCNC cassete will probably wear to quickly, its recognised as being a good race day cassette
