Not the lightest bike, but a new Serotta Ottrott

For those who think that a Serotta is in the 17lb category, this one is
15.7 lbs.

An interesting choice to resist the trillion dollar (but oh so superior and well matched) Serotta fork.

My 1080ish frames build up about .3 lbs lighter with Zero Gs and those pedals, so that implies this Ottrot is about 1230 grams or a little more given how light the Rolfs are. In other words, a very average frame weight these days, let's hear it for light parts, but not the 1350 gram monstrosity some might expect for a Serotta.

What's the frame size and were the tubes specced to produce a certain kind of ride?

I forgot to mention, the brakes are Zero G.

Frame is measured at 56.5 cm with a 1.5 degree top tube slope.

Seat rake is 73.5 degrees.

As you noted, I opted out of the Serotta fork.

I am waiting for the new Reynold UL 300gram fork. The Easton is off another frame until the Reynold arrives.

Bike tubing is set for increased stiffness in the bottom bracket as I love to climb.

My weight is 165-170lbs, depending on the weather.

I'm surprised that you can get a Serotta to 12.6 as Goldknight indicated.

Most frames come in at about 1250 grams.

The components must be the ticket.

It 's interesting that the Nove is lighter than the Ottrott.

Was it component mix or the frame?? The custom Ottrott often is built with a mixture of tubes that adds customized stability, but adds weight.

Also, the rear ST stay is not the lightest.

All in all, impressive weights for a bike that is not known as being the lightest, but is noted for custom sizing.

Both. The Nove got a couple more trick bits but the frame and fork were probably at least 100 grams lighter (I didn't bother weighing them) because I roide both of these bikes with the same components (wheels, tires, saddle, bar stem) when doing the test. The pictures get taken later, but all the testing gets similar build, then swapped.

But the tubes in the Nove can also be chosen for character (it's not just stability for either bike that is tunable) just like the Ottrot.

The Gold knight is a Ledgend Ti with Easton SLX fork.

If you chose a heavily butted tube set, you could make a very light bike if you were willing to sacrifice stiffness and handling.

yes Pez is right--it is a Legend Ti

seems like of all the frames I have had in the past few years (06 Ghisallo,06 Pina Paris carbon, 06 Pina F4:13, 05 Storck Scenario 0.9, 04 Trek 5900, Moots Ti, Merlin exlight--I always come back to my Serotta Legend Ti. I like everything about this frame even though it isn't a 770g frame. And I have sold all the others now except for this one..
