I read that Brembo will also produce mountainbike dics brakes. SInce they are top in motorcycle/automotive could be quite interesting to see what they come up with mtbwise.

I see you have Nokons installed. I have a set lying around but it looks like a lot of puzzlework to assemble them, any thoughts?

I received my Boone rings yesterday (46/110 69g , 34/110 31g) but will probably not install them before next year. First I will wear out the 46/34 raceface combo thats is now on my bike.

this is lighweight version of my bike. it comes w/out: bar ends, computer and pump. total weight is 8053g
in severe conditions I use Conti Explorer Supersonic tyres (pair 867,96g)
race-ready version is 8582,71g incl. complete Polar S710i and SKS Airchamp Pro pump

I read it too about the Brembo brakes. The price is nice too, I forgot how much, but it was expensive. The Brembo brakes are also DH, so heavier, but I think super stopping-power.

I have Nokons on my race bike. And yes, it's a lot of work to instal them, but I like to work on my bike and especially to tune it, so no problem there.

A Giant XTC for me. Pretty much still the standard spec from december, its the 2004 xtc 3. ust added an Easton EA50 stem with 6degree negative rise and Easton EC70 copmosite bar. Soon hope to have Chris King headset, Manitou Skareb forks, Hope Mono Minis, full XT kit and maybe somr XTR too, X517/Hope XC hubs, rear hub having the Ti free hub. and carbon seatpost. Should be a nice wee lightweight bike when i'm fibnished with it.

I use 42/29 combo TA Specialites. 42 chainring was drilled (saves 8g )
Pace? No thanx! It looks like unridable lightweight fork. SID works great and many of riders/racers uses it.

The Pace rides fine if the terrain is not too demanding (rocks etc..)
I use it for offroad trips as long as 100K no problem (if you can stand having no front suspension that is.)
It gives your bike razor sharp cornering and still absorbs a lot of the bumps.
And it saves you 750g's over the SID..

Pace forks are not popular in UE. It's hard to find any opinion about them. Besides, in my opinion, Pace doesn't look cool in comparision with SID. Surely Pace is much lighter than SID. Possibly Pace works good but ... I won't try it.

IMHO the wheels are a bit on the heavy side. do you have an excel sheet with a weight for every part? Would make life a lot easier.

some ideas, not sure what your budget is:

Rear Mech
XT (255g)
I have a DA 7800 with SRP kit and barrel adjuster removed (165g)

Chain
not sure which Shimano chain you are running.
SRAM PC89-R Hollow pin (100 links = 240g)

Bolts
Al bolts for lever and shift bar mounts. Chainring bolts.
front mech mount. Bottle cage. Gear cable guide bolt on the BB.
Ti bolt tuning is more expensive per gram saved.
Rotor bolts, seatpost clamp, stem.

Cassette
Ultegra 12-27 = 223g
DA 11-23 = 156g (11-23 also allows you to run a shorter chain)


Combined, a possible 200g weight saving.
Your wheels would be worth looking at too!
