Just turned 100 (miles on my new bike). Mostly SRAM Red with M-5 brakes. Weighs in under 14 lbs. Okay ever so slightly under 14lbs (1 ounce). But still sub 14#! :-)

Been out of road ridding for 25 years, retired my 1972 Cenelli for this Cervelo R3 SL. Having a great time building a light bike and ridding road again. And yes, I know the point of diminishing returns was a few (1,000?) miles back. But every time I stand up and wind out a big gear I forget the pain in my knees, the burn in my lungs, the extraordinary price I paid and as my little wireless computer ticks past 30mph.... I'm a 30yo again. Priceless!

I just finished this build recently. still waiting for my 3T funda but other than that this will probably be it for a while. Of course I will cut the fork and fit the stem proper. also i plan on making/modifying a garmin mount that is more suitable as the stock one seems to sit really high. As for the saddle many will argue that it is rubbish but it works for me ( Charge Spoon) can be had in the UK for about 20#. i find it very comfy for long rides. Just under 15 lbs with this build.

Cervelo R3-SL 56cm
SRAM RED Shifter/Brakes Lever
SRAM RED Crankset w/ Ceramic BB 175 53/39
SRAM RED Brakes w Swissstop Yellow
SRAM FORCE Front Derailluer
SRAM FORCE Rear Derailluer weight penalty not worth the extra $$$
FSA Energy T Bars 44cm
Thomson X2 Stem 130mm x 17
Easton EC90 Sl Fork ( soon to be replaced )
Syntace P6 Seatpost
Charge Spoon Saddle
Easton EC90 SL
DV46T 20/24 Cross
Conti Gatorskin Sprinter Tires
Home made Carbon Bottle Cages
Keo Carbon Chromo Pedal
ProBikeKit skewers ( some cheap brand but light enough for me )
Ultegra Cassette (12/27 for climbing in pic) (11-23 Dura-Ace otherwise)

Here's my P2C. I've never weighed it. I think it's around 20 kilos or such. It can go 29.8mph sometimes. I've heard the red ones are faster, but red bikes make me break out in hives. Like all Tri/TT bikes, it cannot go up hills. I usually just get off and walk.

@rhubbard:

Congrats on a nice looking build. Those red M5s don't look distracting at all and look pretty nice on your bike but, if that was my bike (hope you don't mind the constructive criticism), I would have gone with the 3T fork instead of the Easton. Not because of weight or stiffness but because the 3T looks that much better on B/W Cervelos. On a side note, having little splashes of red here and there adds to the look of the bike. Glad you didn't go overboard with too much red.

BTW, I couldn't help noticing your water bottle. I have a feeling you got it and the bike from an LBS I love visit quite often. Love the logo! :D

Thanks, yes I got it at a nutty LBS (Bike Nut). I've been very impressed with them!

Added a little more subtle red in changing to KCNC red skewers. Tires have to go, they looked fine on my old Cinelli, too much here. Thinking about different wheels (after my bank account recovers). If I could find a durable set under 1K I might break into the high 12 lbs range.

Fork wise, I have to admit I'm clueless, this is the one that came on the bike.

Here WAS mine... she's in the carbon hospital having some repairs done following a fight with a busted chain...

Marlon,
The susi is white! ... I felt like it was time for a change of pace from the black cervelo. I'm sure it will go the way of my painted white floors in my studio/loft - they are sexy as hell, but when I have to clean them, I curse myself to no ends and wonder what the f__ing he!! was I thinking!

I don't know why somebody would ever sell a bike like this! Probably the best bike I've ever seen.
