Love a lot this frame. Still think it's one of the nicest aluminium frames available. Really stiff on the front when you get out of the saddle. People complain about confort... comparing my caad5 (different fork, the one only mounted in r2000 and r4000 if I am correct) to my S6 evo2 hm... i am not seeing a hell of a difference.
Very little I would change from your built. Details, ican or ilink housings, lighter seat clamp and maybe QR (not sure the ones on your corimas)

Hi,
a friend of mine has bought this exact frame, but he does seem to have trouble with the headset adjustment and he isn't sure whether he has the right headset.
Do you still know or can research the exact headset name?
And: Does the fork need a seperate crown race or is there an integrated one for which a correctly fitting bearing exists? It looks like a 60° angle on the picture he sent me.
Thank you very much!
PS: Nice bike
Hey there, the headset bearings and crown race for the fork are from an FSA Orbit CE (45° x 45°). The fork doesn't have an integrated crown race. The top bearing cover is from a 2009 Cannondale Six Carbon. Have your friend check those items, then make sure an appropriate number of headset shims are used beneath the top bearing cover.
Such a great looking build, congrats! A retro caad build like this is on my to do list for the future for sure.
This build looks great - well done! I love these blue CAAD5's - i've seen a couple for sale here in NZ and been very tempted! And I think the CAAD5 would be my favourite CAAD, the tubing looks a little beefier than what is on my 7 (see my build here viewtopic.php?f=10&t=156808).
What seatpost do you have btw? I'm now looking for ways to reduce weight more. If I could lose 40g or so from my seatpost for cheap enough I would. I've just found myself a set of the old Planet X style brakes which saved me about 60-70g and got an Uno stem coming for another 40g or so. I should be able to hit 6.3kg fairly easily I think!

You could lose quite a bit of weight on the seatpost since you fit a straight post - pickup an inexpensive Hylix carbon post or something fancier. Black SRAM Force chainrings would look clean on this. I like the gold accents.
I think the corimas are 1300gr without QR and tape.

Thanks! Will verify next time I change the tires.
Lovely! So much more beautiful than current CAAD frames IMO.
