Vitus ZX1 / Corima Manta
Moderators: MrCurrieinahurry, maxim809, Moderator Team
My latest build: Vitus ZX1 carbon monocoque frame with Corima Manta handlebar and wheels. The Manta handlebar was used by the team Castorama in 1991 and 1992. More pictures in my blog.
So beautiful!!
Reminds me of the beginning of the nineties when I started folowing cycling. Castorama, with time trial specialist Thiery Marie, Laurent Fignon rode for them, and Jacky Durand as well if I'm correct.......
May I ask you where you get all those beautiful retro bikes from? Is it searching the internet, eBay,... or new old stock from bike shops or...?

Mostly through classifieds, eBay and contacts I have through forums like this. It takes some time to find these bikes and parts. The ZX1 for example was several years on my search list

That is absolutely amazing. Is this an ex pros actual ride?
This bike was used by an amateur rider a long time ago. I don't think that the ZX1 was used by pro teams.dereksmalls wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:14 pmThat is absolutely amazing. Is this an ex pros actual ride?
Below the handlebar there are 2 cylindric metal parts. To mount the handlebar you remove the 2 pieces from the carbon handlebar, slide them into the stem from left and right side. You can then attach them again to the handlebar. In my setup I use the Shimano 600 stem which cannot be opened. Hope that helps. I can make some pictures from below of the handlebar the next weekend.
Today I stumbled upon a funny offer on eBay. The seller offers pictures of my ZX1, slightly edited (other saddle, without bottle cage). From the description:
"Classic Vitus ZX1 trade poster, issued to bike stores and distributors only. A3 size (42cmx30cm). Shipped in tough cardboard packaging. Digitally reproduced direct from original artwork."
What a clown ... If someone wants to have pictures of my bikes, just let me know. I'll pass on the files for free in higher resolution

Hi, congrats for your build. I fell so in love that I had to find another ZX1 for myself, which I did today.
I have some questions you might have the answer.
I'd love to ride it from time to time so I'm thinking of a neo-retro build.
- What's the bottom bracket type and compatibility with modern groupsets? Any suggestion on a budget?
- What's the rear wheel inner space in cms? 130cms or less? I wonder wicht cassette will it allow (max number of cogs).
- What's the tyre allowance? 25mm? 28mm?
Thanks in advance.

I couldn't find the details you are asking for. I sold my ZX1 a while ago. I think spacing for rear wheel is 130mm and I doubt that a 28mm tyre will fit, it could even be difficult with 25mm.
