This frame could almost be called vintage 8) since it arrived from Germany back in summer of 2011, but was only completed last week. So it’s been a long journey to get this bike built up finally.

This model of frame was called ‘Alpha’ which over time somehow became ‘aloha’, and was built all custom for my measurements. Note this is a big bike — 58.5cm TT and a 77cm saddle height. I dealt with Nils which was awesome! The brakes will probably get swapped for EEs when I do road races or long days in the mountains and long ago I got rid of the AX fork  and Morpheus cranks it came with.

In these pictures it wears a wheelset borrowed from Fair Wheel. :beerchug: Thanks Madcow! My hillclimb setup will be at around 3.9kg with the 866g mag clinchers I mentioned here. Also I have 750g ENVE tubulars but those will probably get 220g Veloflex tires glued on, for a similar weight somewhere under 4kg. Of course there are always ways to add weight and daily useability, which I will, but I think it’s more fun to show the bike here in its emaciated WW state on Tufos with Aerolites. Last thing, I shouldn’t have to say this but yes I have sturdier bikes to ride the other 98% of the time.

Anyway here are more pics:

That turned out good! Levers don't look too bad. :D

Sooooooo cool 8) Probably one of the best looking super light builds on here, usually they're kinda ugly

Aloha, that's really funny! I guess the lower part of the "P" peeled or faded? Great build and unbelievably light but why did it take so long to build up?

Ok, that's nice. That may ne the most "rideable" of all the ultralight bikes. Did you do all the tuning?

Missed grinding the lawyer lips off of the forks, couple of grams there, which looks suspiciously like a scapula for being a fibula on the build sheet. Very sweet otherwise.

This is awesome! I love the silver accents. I could not get my Campy Record front derailleur to work with the 2013 SRAM Red shifters. Are your shifters pre 2013?

The first rule of procrastinator's club is.. try to postpone the meeting.

Geoff wrote:Did you do all the tuning?

Most of it, with help from Kevin @ Cryptic who cut the lever blade holes.

Thanks again Kevin.. nice work! :beerchug:

Thanks.. good that you're paying attention.

They came from a friend and weighed 754g (F 309/R 445g) with these specs:
ENVE 25T - 203g/219g
M5 - 32g
Extralite Ultrahub 10sp - 134g
Pillar ti (3.5g/ea), 2.0mm internal alloy nipples - 152g
Image

There is a wide range of weights for these rims out there, including the 1st gen EDGE 24 rims which I've seen as low as 192g, but I think the weight for mine is pretty ideal. I definitely want to ride them all over including technical descents and rough pavement. Likewise I sold the hubs even though they were super light.. I am a little sketched with that front hub.

So I am rebuilding the rims up like this in hopes of making them more robust and stiffer wheels, at ~750g:
Extralite Cyber SP 20/24h polished - 171g
Pillar XTRA-lite spokes x32, Sapim CX Super DS R x12 - 146g
2.3mm/1.8mm internal alloy nipples - 11g

My ti/stainless blend:

I have already polished the same hubs on a different wheelset, so here's what they will look like:

Thanks for looking everyone.
