In all honesty, the Bora 35 One clinchers with Vittoria Corsa SCs ride beautifully and forking out another £1100-1200 for tubs at this stage would be a bit much. Instead, I plan to take my new bike to Majorca and Gran Canaria for some climbing!

Just returned from a trip to Gran Canaria. Over 410 miles and 48,000ft of ascent! No real changes to the bike besides putting the Boras back on and changing out the tan-wall Vittorias to some all-black Veloflex Corsas.

The view from Pico de las Nieves, the highest point on the island at 1949m, reached by a 45km climb.


Not far from the top of the Valley of the Tears, looking towards Tenerife's Mt Teide. This is a fairly brutal climb with a mostly poor surface and many steep sections over 20%!

Be careful with these clinchers if they're anything like my experience of these tyres on my Bora 50s then I would just bin them straight away from a safety perspective and get some grey sidewall vittoria corsa g tyres viewtopic.php?f=113&t=145874

Thanks for the heads up. I did actually have an issue on my first day where I very nearly crashed, but I don't think it was the tyre's fault.

The Canary Islands are notoriously windy and I was caught off-guard by a strong tailwind gust on a descent that had me going way too fast into a switchback. I panicked and braked really hard, possibly overheating my front rim. I thankfully stopped myself going over the barrier but afterwards part of the tyre had come off the rim and the tube was bulging out.

I'm fairly light and have done plenty of mountain descents on my Bora clinchers but just goes to show you can get caught out very easily!
