The bar-stem combo looks really nice. Most of them look to bulky in the areas where the parts are bonded together but this one will almost look seamless.

Did he do just two layers to bond the stem and handlebar together?

There is one layer of structural adhesive, 8 layers of UD and two layers of woven in the junction.

Some more 1990's coolness. Staying with the purple theme, the red Swiss flag logos I removed from the Edco wheels will be painted back on by Kevin. Looking forward to seeing how these turn out.

BTW godzuki, are you still going to the Circle of Doom ride at the end of the month?

@dudemanppl - I am supposed to go to Las Vegas for Halloween weekend but that may all change now due to the recent tragedy at Mandalay Bay. So, right now I am excited to participate.

Here are some cool update pics from Kevin. I decided to keep things simple and not go too flashy. No logos on the down tube. Only one Felt logo on the drive side top tube. An "FRD" logo on the fork. All in a dark metallic purple.

Kevin was also nice enough to put a "D" logo on the DASH M4 Saddle and a "3T" on the spare Aeronova handle bar. You can see the metallic purple color more without the clear coat which will be added later. Kevin has been great to work with so far. He sends constant updates via text and is very helpful when I ask silly questions. I never got this kind of attention and follow up when I had a custom frame built by ?????? back in 2007.

Looks stunning. Love the attention to detail. I also like how you are putting the 3t and dash logos back on

@JScycle - Kevin paints the logos on so no weight penalty for those weight weenies out there. He also fixed my horrible sanding job on the Edco wheels. The purple Swiss flag logos that replaced the red logos look cool too. The purple still keeps the build stealthy because I am half ninja on my mother's side.

I am excited as hell to see how this barstem will look after it comes out of the vacuum pack. Kevin explained to me that he uses a special prepreg carbon that does not need to be baked at too high of a temperature. If you use the cheap stuff, one must bake it at a higher temperature which can damage the existing resin on the stem and handlebar. I get to talk about how the bar stem was made when I stop for a Vietnamese coffee.

Wowzers, looks great. :thumbup:

If Kevin would ever like to move across the Pacific to a small earthquake ravaged city in the land of the long white cloud, please tell him we could definitely use his skills over here...

As mentioned earlier, I sent the Ultralite Pedals to Toronto Cycles to have anodized purple. I really like how they turned out. The aluminum gold pedal sleeves would have ruined the look of the bike. I may be going a little too crazy with the purple, but I think purple accents on the components will look nice.

@godzuki26

Great thread. What's the complete weight goal here?
