My seat post started off at 250g picture for picture so you are already ahead of the game, also those steel clamps need to go to Kevin to see about making those carbon too.

Did you ever get the CeramicSpeed BB30 bearings? 30-40g sounds ridiculously light.

@Mep - they were 43 grams. Heavier than the FSA set I already have. Guy at the bikeshop was wrong when he said they were under 35 grams.

Took delivery of the 38cm center to center Zipp SL-70 Aero stem. I prefer this bar shape over the Aeronova. It also fit easily on the MCFK stem which was a relief. The bar also came out of the box under claimed weight. 225 grams. With some sanding, I can probably get this down to 215 grams or so. As mentioned earlier, I want to have a sub 300 gram bonded barstem.

This time a new handlebar from an authorized retailer. No second thoughts about it being crashed or fake.

Very happy with the weight!!!

Without bonding and decal removal, the current combo sits at 310 grams. I need to lose another 10 grams.

The MCFK aluminum faceplate and screws weigh 17 grams. I wonder how much weight can be saved by ditching the aluminum hardware and bonding the stem and bar?? We shall see soon.

I have a 3T ARX LTD in 100mm weighing in at 121 grams. IS the MCFK stem very stiff?

I had a bonded version on my R5ca and I was happy with the stiffness. Godzuki, I think you should expect to save 10g or so by bonding but I can't recall. If you search for my R5ca thread it has before and after weights.

Looking at those bars, I'm confused how you got them onto the stem without pressing from the front like I had to do.

@RyanH - yes you went from 277 grams to 267 grams so a nice 10 gram savings including the Predator logo and gloss clear coat. I still need to strip the Zipps and trim the bar ends so I will be very close to 300 grams.

@juanmoretime - I feel the MCFK stem is plenty stiff. I use it on mountain bikes and I have never had a problem. No downhill black diamond stuff but mainly XC / trail riding.

@SLCBrandon - when I managed to fit the Tririg Alpha Classic base bar on the MCFK stem I was surprised. The 3T Aeronova has a much smaller wing so I thought "no problem". The issue with the Aeronova was it had double wings. Wings in the front and wings in the back. Fortunately, the Zipps have only one wing in the back giving me a flush surface in the front. So to install it you flip the stem upside down and slide it across from left to right. Once the stem is on there just rotate the stem and you are good to go.

So it looks like the MCFK bar will work on:

Specialized Aerofly
Easton EC70 and EC90 Aero
Ritchey WCS Streem Aero

But it may not easily work on the Enve SES Aero bars due to the small wing in the front. The bars above have a flush front surface. I always wondered why I have been unsuccessful finding a pic of a Haero H.155 bar matched with an MCFK stem. It would be the perfect German on German combo. Now I know why.

When sanding the clear coat and decals I noticed the same voids I found in the Aeronova. On both the Zipp and the 3T, filler was used to fill in areas transitioning from the clamping area to the flats. The difference this time was I stopped sanding as soon as I noticed it on the Zipps. On the 3T, I kept going. These Zipp bars had a serial number laser etched under the clear coat and black paint which was interesting. There is so much counterfeit Zipp equipment out there. I can see a fake Zipp handlebar failing on someone and causing severe injury. The injured party will try and file a claim against Zipp only to have this etched number missing on their counterfeit bars. Good job Zipp.

I shortened the handlebars by cutting them. This saved about 3 to 4 grams. As I sit now, these bars are 211 grams.

I'm surprised you don't have a more precise scale that goes in to the tenths or hundredths place. They're cheap on eBay and precision seems to be spot on.

3T Aeronova 40cm vs Zipp SL-70 Aero 38cm. Both bars are about the same width because 3T measures outer to outer while Zipp measures center to center. Which looks more aero to you? I like the Zipps

@dudemanppl - Mr. RyanH suggested I do the same thing so I ordered one a couple months ago. It ended up never making it to my house and I have been too lazy to get another.
