I think it'll look so much better after it has the gloss clear on it, it looks a bit rough as it is now. The gloss will be worth the extra grams

Gloss clear with some accents of some sort to highlight the textreme.

Mask out a logo so you have the negative of the current gloss-on-matte stuff.

Getting the final little bits and pieces before I send the frame off. I mentioned that I want to get my purple anodized freak on.

Here is a steal M6 bolt used to clamp the saddle.

Image

Replaced it with a purple anodized titanium bolt and saved some weight.

Here are 2 titanium stock M6 bolts for the seat post.

The replacement purple titanium M6x16 bolts weigh more. However, they are longer and need to be trimmed down.

Image

Some aluminum purple presta valve covers. Not necessary but why not? Only 1 gram.

The bike with some purple accents.

3K Fibrelyte top cap to match the MCFK Stem. Will use a nylon bolt to save weight.

Flipped the Fibrelye cap over and removed approximately 1mm of material to save a little weight. Together with the nylon bolt the cheesy scale was hovering between 1 and 2 grams.

I sent my Cirrus Ultralite Ti pedals to Toronto Cycles to have them anodized purple. I am looking forward to getting them back. I think they will look cool with this build.

How did you remove the material off the top cap? I've got the same and was a bit disappointed with it's weight to be honest!

I finally got to meet Kevin @ Cryptic Cycles who will be putting the final touches on this frame. Starting off with the bar stem, he hooked me up with the ultra high modulus military grade UD carbon to bond the bar to the stem. Then, he used a matching 3K weave to make the bar stem look factory perfect. The last pic is before he puts it in the oven.

@dereksmalls - I used a dremel with a diamond bit. It is super easy to do. The FibreLyte top cap is a little thick and can be thinned out. I did the same thing on my Litespeed.

Thanks for that. If only I had a dremel!

The bar-stem combo looks really nice. Most of them look to bulky in the areas where the parts are bonded together but this one will almost look seamless.

Did he do just two layers to bond the stem and handlebar together?

There is one layer of structural adhesive, 8 layers of UD and two layers of woven in the junction.
