saxophone and clarinet! :)

one question (i hope i isnt too much of a bother): is the fsa slk bar the one weighing 222 gram?

concerning fsa bars, this one is really interesting (but regrettably quite expensive....)

Yes FSA SLK bar is the one that weighs 220gm.

That bar is remarkably light for a mass produced handlebar.

(Off topic I play tenor horn in a couple of brass bands...heaps of fun...not as cool as saxophone)

Sorry for quality of my photos.

I look at the glossy quality of others snaps and feel a little embarrassed by mine.

It's snowing here but when it stops I'll take some time to get some good snaps

I've just bought these off a local auction site.

FSA K Force Nano bars 440mm, the hoods are 420mm apart
They were advertised as unused & there's no signs of previous use

Weigh in at 188g,

Love the Izalco. Probably one of the stiffest bike I've ever ridden. Might not be the most comfortable, but it sure is fast!

Had this bike about 3 months or 3,500km.
Really enjoying it.
It seems to great in all situations.

It's my commuter bike and performs admirably on our pot holed, wet & icy winter roads.

It's easy to climb hills, well not easy but that's my legs fault. Safe to say it's quicker than my last bike BMC TMR 02.

Also holds it's own on flats, in group rides. I've yet to do any real races on it but Spring is on the way.

I really like the disc brakes...I'm not a confident hill descender but times/speeds are improving with discs.

Only thing I don't like are the Schwalbe One - the traction isn't great in the wet and over train tacks or cattle grids.

It could Definitely be lighter, could easily loose a few hundred grams on the wheels.

Thinking Hunt disc at 1300g ish and NZ$1700

With a lottery win may buy a Berk saddle, lightweight stem and new Rotor disc brake set up

Very nice bike! I'm looking at this frameset to maybe replace my Canyon. Could you post:

* your saddle height and saddle to bar drop
* the weight of both RAT axles
* a good pic with tyre clearance at the fork and chainstays. Those Schwalbe tyres measure around 27mm wide as far as I could find on the net? For daily use, I will still fit my 25mm Michelin's (28 mm wide in reality), but would like to use my 28mm GP4000s (31mm wide) for a few cobble and gravel rides I do during spring.

Will do,

It'll just take me a couple of days...flat out at moment

well done, high-class-bike!

only the front could imo look better- stem and bar dont (optically) fit at all, especially the (red) graphics of the fsa-bar dont match the minimalistic look of your focus.
i think, the black/grey fsa carbon-parts (k-force bar and fsa-os-99-csi stem, or, lighter and made of aluminium, fsa energy stem) go well with those izalco-max.

Thanks, I see what you mean.

The bars are second hand, unused and cheap...well as cheap as any light(ish) carbon bike gear.

I really like the feel of the FSA bars so was prepared to put up with the mismatch.

I will look at how easy it is to remove the details without damaging the bars.

i had the same "->problem<-" (those are problems, we have in the first world.... ) with a 177-gr.-3t ergonova team carbon bar (a lot of red, which didnt go with the concerning bike at all). i sanded it with very fine (600/800/1000) wet) abrasive paper.

Hey,

Saddle to top of bar drop is about 130mm - there's still scope to drop the bars a further 30mm

Saddle height from middle of BB is 767mm measured along upright, 1050mm from ground.

I've added some photos .

I really like this frame. It does everything...

RAT axles 15mm weighs 75.3g
12mm weighs 62.2g

Also real potential for a proper WW bikeImageImage

New wheels, I'm not sure whether the wheels would look better with the writing on the tyres over the blue Wheelworks symbol, or where it is over the writing

Weight now 7.145kg

There's still scope to drop at least 500g, and several $k, by moving to SRAM Red disc, new saddle and seatpost.ImageImageImage
