This is the first set up.

I've since bought cheap scales and can show weights of parts changed

I've drawn up a spread sheet of component cost verses weight saved.

Bike in this form is 7.7kg including pedals

When I was looking to buy the bike I had real concerns about being able to refit the wheel & disc brake after a puncture.

Shane at KiwiVelo showed me this clever system used on the Izalco.

I find this quicker and easier than skewers on my last bike, a BMC TMR02, 6.8kg including pedals & Garmin.

I was riding with someone on one of these today, the frame looks great in the flesh. He was running carbon rims, so made it look really good.

The focus rat system is great.

Ok so it wasn't your bike I saw at Chain Reaction. The one I saw was blue and white with Sram Red Etap HRD and lots of Smolke bits, super bling. Not that yours isn't also sweet :)

I live in Merivale / St Albans and always ride the hill so lots of battling through crazy drivers and debris from boy racers (glass) across town and back every ride. Yep, shame about the loss of Evans Pass because of the quakes (does narrow down the options somewhat) but we are still so very lucky with what we have plus it's nice having less motorised traffic on Summit Road due the the earthquake road closures.

I'll keep an eye out for your bike on the road and say hello to you when I see it.

Cheers
GJ

Changes so far...

...saddle.

Old saddle Fizik Antares, weight 219gms, unfortunately I didn't but the scales until after I'd fitted the new saddle.

New saddle Specialized Toupe S-Works 143mm, claimed weight 155gmsImage

wow, bike looks good, nice proportions!

may i ask, which one is the fsa bar, and which model? i although use fsa bars (love the shape) on two of my bikes (one is an izalco max as well!), energy and k-force. energy is regrettably quite heavy with ca 270 gr., k-force weighs 208 gr, thats ok.

thanks, regards

Hey Reedplayer,

The bars are FSA SLK's, the cheapest of the FSA carbon bar range.
I bought them second hand as they were cheap.

I've just bought a set of FSA K Force nano K bars, claimed weight 195gms.
I'll post a photo of their weight when they arrive.

Also really like the drop & reach of the FSA's.

(Just out of interest Reedplayer, do you play clarinet, saxophone, oboe?)
