WIP Log
April 2017:
1. Left a high stack (uncut) - still suffering after effects of a bad crash in February. Did not know which stack height I will return to eventually
2. Testing out the much hyped Zipp nsw454 clincher hoops with the equally hyped Michelin Power Competition Clinchers. First time I am on clinchers! Wheels are fast as hell. I am not going to be dropped on the flats
Image

June 2017: Weight update 5.5kg (swap of wheels, tyres and skewers)
1. Lowered stack - 1cm (another 1-1.5cm to go!)
2. Changed the ZIpp SL70 to.... another Zipp SL70, but narrower (40cm) and in super matching matt black
3. Testing out the Schmolke TLO45 Tubular hoops. Back to tubulars and a dead weight saving of 400g.
Boy do I miss weight savings on the climbs. These wheels may not be as fast as the nsw454 on the flats and on lead outs, but when you are drafting, it doesn't really make a difference. Change of tactics. When you hit the climbs, these wheels perform superbly. Among the best climbing sets I have ever owned.
I am keeping this set on as the permanent hoops for this bike. Looks nice too in 45mm toroidal profile. Good pairing in both form (matt black, rim depth vs tube thickness) and function (all round bike, weight and aero balance). Time to find another bike better paired for the nsw454 - I am keeping the Zipps for sure (latest: found!)

Quite an aero front profile

I still can't believe how light these cages are and how good the grip is

Haven't updated the pictures yet, but since these were taken, I have changed the gloss black Zipp SL70 to a narrower (40cm) Zipp SL70 in Matt Black. Also, have settled on a pair of Schmokle TLO45 tubular wheels to match the terrain and distance that I am most often going to ride this bike on.

Fantastic Machine, I demoed one a few weeks back....albeit a much lower spec.

Really enjoyed the bump absorption in the back but stiff everywhere else.

Impressive build. These Storcks really do seem to have quite a short head tube. Despite having quite a "long and low" fit, a buddy of mine has a spacer tower almost like this.

I normally run 1cm spacer height at most for this size M (55s), and not the 3cm stack you see in the photo that was taken in April.

I had a massive crash in February that dislodged my clavicle and I am easing back slowly to my usual height. As we speak, I have already lowered the spacer stack by 1cm, another 1-1.5cm to go. Size M is very rideable size for my 1.75m height.

What I do submit is that the effective top tube and reach is very long. I need to get a shorter stem by about 10-15mm compared to other more conventional frames.

Storck used to have very short head tubes for their size 51 frames - you almost got to be younger than 30 years old to ride a slammed stem. The newer geometry (I believe starting with this F.3 model) has a higher head tube and is less aggressive.

The overall stack height of the new F.3 geometry for size S (51s) is now 541mm. It used to be 526mm for this size. In comparison, the stack for a "more conventional" Pinarello F10 size 51.5 is 527mm, albeit the reach is much shorter

Still, this beauty deserves a bigger drop IMHO!

Haha

As we speak, -1cm. I am nearer to my usual drop. Hope to drop another 1cm by end of this month, pending my medical review

Ride what you can sustain! Adding 1-2cm to my front end was the impetus for buying my C60 - courtesy of an injury. I'd love to be back down to my more aggressive looking stack but I'm happier to just be riding without discomfort. No need to rush the recovery and and up prolonging it! :beerchug:

Change of handlebar

From: Zipp SL70 42cm Gloss Black
To: Zipp SL70 40cm Matt Black

Matches the frame perfectly
Trying out a narrower fit

#1 yes, a light mount.

#2 Trying to go the green path and reuse as many Storck parts from my previous Storcks. Cheese cap haha. Now that you mention it, it does look like that. You mean the bolt doesn't bolt well?

#3 Bolts again legacy parts. Black-Blue chain as a result of trying to blend the legacy parts. Figured out that if chain colour doesn't work out, road grime will do a reasonable camouflage job!

Ride report please :)

Would also be good to hear how this one compares to the Storck models you've previously owned.
