90% or more of the comments in this thread are very constructive and respectful of the mods/admins. and so they should be. but it is clear from this thread that most people think this is not a great decision.

from my perspective even if the decision achieved its stated goal (more build threads) i think it is far too heavy handed an action. i believe the forum is here to facilitate a group discussion. sure, if a mod thinks a thread about "who's the biggest drug cheat" is a bad idea based on their previous experience, i can see that. but when the way we post stories about bikes (the raison d'etre of WW) is getting micro-managed, i think a line has been overstepped.

surely at some point it would be appropriate for there to be some response from the mods/admins so that we can have some dialogue about this decision. the silence at the moment is a bit galling i think.

i agree with you mrgray that it was a heavy handed move. perhaps a more useful method would have been to express their desired outcome to the group and let the community work towards a solution.
the lack of dialog from the admins is very odd.

Did the mods decided on this based on number of daily/monthly visitor we have? In declining trends perhaps and this is one of the efforts to restore number of visitors?

I only read Tour forum and WW. I use the "new posts" filter and read whatever is new since my last visit. There were always new posts in the gallery threads.

There still are in Tour forum -> http://forum.tour-magazin.de/search.php ... Forum_Post

Not on here anymore :(

We better make a separate thread per opinion/complaint.

Interaction makes things fun!

For now, thanks for your understanding.

You've 'killed' interaction, and nobody understands the decision.

The floor is yours. We are waiting.

I reported the original post to the moderating team, stating that the people demand a response.

I wondered why the Colnago thread had been locked and now I've discovered. What a crazy decision. The only reason I joined up on this forum was because of the Colnago thread. As a result I came across some excellent build threads and in particular the C60 build thread by Calnago. Without which I'd have made a mess with part of my own C60 build. Once finished I was proud to add my own pictures to the ongoing thread. It's fantastic to see so many Colnago's on there and how trends are changing down the years. I don't know what it's supposed to achieve. As a new user I just do not have the time to produce my own build thread but am trying to contribute in at least some small way. Locking the Colnago one blocks one avenue for me. I've read this complete thread and you took a tough decision? Why was any decision needed? In any walk of life when managers take a decision that affects the people who had no input in the decision or explanation as to why the decision is made it serves to totally alienate the management and turn off the users. As others keep asking... an explanation?
