Hey guys,
I'm Pan. I've posted before asking questions or commenting here and there but I decided to make my own introductory build thread.
I'm making a race bike out of pure lust ... I really want this bike to be around the 15lb or 6.8kg mark. I'm crossing my fingers and I'm willing to invest in more carbon to get this done if need be. I'm not a hardcore racer, but I do enjoy a good sprint finish : )

The painted Pinarello F8 Dogma Frame Size 54cm 022 Black on Black weighs 1086g with paint.

Image
The uncut ONDA fork weighs 414g. The weight of the removed piece of stem is 23g. So 391g total for the installed fork.

Image
I'm rather disappointed at the Look Keo Blade Max Carbon 2's. They were advertised at 90g each but when I weighed them they were 97g each.

I don't know if it's worth uploading images of the individual Dura Ace groupset parts.

170mm 50/34T Crankset - 440g 170mm Stages Left Crank Arm - 183g

Okay guys ... how do I make this thing lighter. I put it all together and BAM 7.6kg (16.8lbs)

Image

I need to lose 0.8kg

I'm recycling a Specialized Romin Evo Pro saddle from another bike at the moment which weighs 208g.
The Leaf II Plus ordered should be about 86g.

Handlebars? - Zipp Service Course SL70 Aluminum
Bartape? - Fizik 3mm Tacky Performance
Inner Tubes?

I know my 404 wheelsets aren't featherweights either nor are the Vittoria Corsa G+'s.

Geez, my F8 with the AX wheels is just over 6kg with cages. My suggestions are tubulars, lightweight stem and bars. Of course a set of EE's, Fibulars and a THM crank is another way...... it's only $'s :shock:

Titanium lightweight skewers, lightweight inner tubes if you want to use those wheels, shorten your fork. Lighter cables like Jagwire

I had the 70mm stem lying around in my garage.

It'll take some time for the 100mm Most stem to come in but honestly it's heavier.

1.8kg ... Goodness. That's a lot of paint. Yeah. Italian Aero bikes are beautiful but heavy. The Countervail technology in the XR4 CV makes the Oltre heavier than the older XR2 model, I believe. My older generation Bianchi Infinito C2C is a bit lighter than the newer Infinito CV.
I'm trying to get used to the low position so I don't want to completely cut the fork tube either... Guess the weight will have to come off from the components.

Ok, then. 70mm stems are not for road bikes, that's why I asked.

What size is your F8? I thought mine was quite heavy too. Blah....

Zipp Aluminum SL-70 Ergo Handlebars 260g -> Zipp Carbon Aero Handlebars 240g ($275) = 13.75$/g
Zipp Steel Skewers 85g -> Zipp Titanium Skewers 65g ($80) = 4$/g
Stem - Zipp Service Course SL 70mm 110g -> Most Tiger Aero 1K Carbon 100mm 164g ($190) = +3.5$/g

Specialized Romin Evo Expert Saddle 277g -> AX Lightness Leaf II Plus -> 86g ($325) = 1.7$/g
x2 CarbonWork Bottle Cages 10g = $110

Specialized 80mm Presta Valve Inner Tubes 111g x2 -> Continental Race Light Inner Tubes 75gx2 (22$) = 0.31$/g
Gold Jagwire Elite Links Brake and Shifter housing 53+72 = 125$ Ordered

I can't believe I'm being this fickle with it and I haven't even put the cages on yet. Damnit.
I might as well just change out the wheelset because I know they're the heaviest part of the bike at this point.
Do I go tubeless or tubular??

Np. Yeah. It looks a bit unfitting on the bike : / ... I was hoping to get a fit performed before ordering the stem.

I have a 2016 white F8 with Etap, 404 NSW, the Most stem you showed and FSA K wing compact handle bars. I really didn't try to make mine light, just picked the components i liked and it came in at 15.5lbs for a size 54. That includes pedals, cages and an uncut steer tube. Your number seems off to me, but i guess the pictures don't lie. :noidea:

If your goal is to just get lighter i would move away from the zipp components. They are heavy. Also the most stem will force you to run the proprietary pinarello spacers, which are heavy. They look cool though.
