"Be Steel My Heart."

In the process of shooting and writing a story about a fire engine red Cherubim Uli for Cycle Exif and Blacksmith Cycle, I happen to fall deeply in love with the steel steed. It's the second Cherubim I've come across and the allure was just the same. They have this sort of 70s hot rod vibe to them and I love it. It's hard to explain and is proving even harder to capture on camera.

Either way, I've known for about a year that my carbon racer was a tad bit too long for me so a replacement was on my mind. The Cherubim looked about right so we checked the geometry and sure enough it was. It presented the same race position and angles I wanted but with a bit shorter of a reach. A bit of back and forth and then it was settled. I'm super stoked to add a piece of impeccable Japanese craftsmanship to my collection. I've nicknamed her "Cherry Bomb"

The original article on the Cherubim Uli is here on Cycle Exif and I cross posted a Cherubim history story and some outtake photos on my site, Life Is A Beautiful Detail. Check them out here.

While my final build is much more modest and moderate I'm really happy with how it has come together. After a couple of post build shake down rides, I'm excited for a long season ahead. Here is the final build list and a proper shot of the current set up.

The one on CycleExif has some flashier parts but yours is every bit as nice. Really love the look with the shallow Xentis hoops.

They make beautiful bikes. Their shop/showroom is in one of my favourite areas of Tokyo so when I'm down that way, I sometimes pop in or stare at the bike in the window.

They were on my shortlist when I was looking for a steel bike. Finally got something nearer my original home than my adopted home.

Cherubim frames are works of art!
The only thing I do not like is the chainrings. Something more elegant would look better.

I just weighed it. Pedals, mounts, and all the doo hickeys it's 16lb 8oz

Hear you all on the chain rings. I really like the AbsoluteBlack rings but they may end up on my other bike in order to keep this one clean and simple.
