Simplon Pavo III Ultra - 5,5kg bike project

Hi,

I want to present lightweight and good quality bike. I have assembled this bike for normal rides, so every parts are light, but ready to race. Actually was used only for Sunday riding. Tell me please what do you think about this project and what can I improve.

Weight of this bike is 5450 grams.

Frameset: Simplon Pavo 3 Ultra 52cm
Wheels: front Tune g-zero rim, Cx-rays, Tune Mig hub, rear Reynolds rim, Cx-rays, Tune Mag hub (approx. 950g)
Groupset: Campy Super Record 11s
Crankset: Clavicula compact with Stronglight cranks
Seat/Seatpost: Metamorphose combo with foam (approx. 140g) (www.metamorphose-composites.com)
Handlebar: Schmolke TLO 42cm
Stem: Ritchey Superlogic 90mm
Bottlecages: Lightweight Edelhelfer

Well Schmolke TLO doesn't really qualify for "ready to race" sticker (I mean, I absolutely trust them but obey for the rule, don't race which you can't replace ), however, the bike is nice. And black hoods definitely, please.

I'm going to buck the trend and say - stick with the red hoods. I like the splash of colour in a see of black stealth bikes...

TLO's are widely available therefore "replaceable"

Classy looking bike. Red up front is very lively. Maybe a bit more work on bar taping technique to make it looking better (black gap under the hoods and the tape's red section on the right side shouln't go beyond the hood's line, as it's done on the other side).

Glad to see another Simplon on the forum! I bought my first Pavo III frameset in 2013 and was thoroughly enjoying the bike until a stupid old ba*tard knocked me off. I was badly messed up and, although the frame didn't appeared to damaged at all, I didn't want to take a chance so it had to be retired. One trip to A&E was enough! Anyhow I had been so impressed with the Simplon I bought another one exactly the same! I've built it up Campag Record EPS as my race bike and it's a superb piece of kit. Hopefully post some snaps on the forum shortly.

and very refreshing, to see something else from time to time, in this endless stream of cannondale/canyon/specialized and trek-bikes, mixed with some colnagos and a few other popular italian brands.

Even in Austria you don't see many of these Pavo's regularly.
Nice build.
Clean up the tape to really polish it off.

Those aren't Fibulas, those brakes are Campy.

Thank you for reply and sorry for my late answer.

I will correct this bar tape. Actually I don't use this bike now, becouse we have winter in center Europe. Just can't wait for sunny days.

I'm thinking what more can I change in this bike. I want to set up lighter skewers and maybe brakes, but I don't know which ones should I choose for good weight and braking force ratio.
