Very fun ride a couple of days ago on this thing - quite a different discipline to standard road cycling on tarmac - the last time I oversteered on the road it ended with a big bang!

Anyway, thought I would also add that the total weight has now been confirmed at 7.4kgs including bottle cage, pedal and mount. That was before it got caked in mud. Quite pleased! The Easton crank definitely helped.

That's an awesome build, do you have a full build list with weights?

Thanks RyanH! Unfortunately not the weights- it was built up by a bike builder quite far from me and I got the parts shipped directly there. I mistakenly forgot to ask them the weigh the parts! Most of the spec is listed on the original post in this thread though.

In terms of ride quality, I've been really surprised at how comfortable it is. Of course the 35mm tyres help, but the frame feels very compliant. Not sure on the bars and stem though- they have absolutely no flex at all, which coming from an ENVE setup on my other bike takes a bit of getting used to. Otherwise, I'm not sure there's much I would change...

Nice, and the paint is gorgeous!

Needs SPD pedals though IMO - walking on gravel with road cleats sucks :)

hey
nice build you nailed it !

can you tell us more about your gear ratio ?
i see the 11/42 or 10/42 cassette but what chainring size did you go for 42 44 ?
don't you miss the double chainrings for the spacing of the gears ?

thank you :beerchug:

Thanks Marin. I couldn't agree more. XTR SPDs and probably some Rapha cross shoes are on my to-purchase list. Otherwise I'll be working my way through a fair amount of cleats and road shoes this year...

Hi Romalor
It's set up as a 10-42 x 46 as shown, but I have plans to buy a 42 chainring for when I'm pulling a trailer along (if I need to).
The range seems perfect for the riding I've done so far, but I do miss the closer ratios on the flats. But that wasn't the aim of the bike - I have another proper road bike for long days on tarmac, this was supposed to be a bit of fun and a little bit experimental.

I have to say that I love the XTR di2, and I think the 'clutch' system is great. I was expecting the chain to whip about all over the place but it's so well tensioned I don't even need a protection strip on the chain stay (famous last words)!

What're your general ride impressions so far? How does it compare to the road bike?

@boots2000 - the only 3D printed part on this bike will be a front derailleur cap which Parlee will be producing (not sure who does it for them)

@RyanH - really pleased with the ride so far. Very responsive considering the extra kilo and a bit over my ZZero, but not as stiff as the C60 that went before it. It's hard to compare of course- they're like apples and oranges in a way, but I can say that it is silky smooth to ride, I'm just not sure about the bars and stem at the moment. 35mm provides too much stiffness for my liking.

Forgot to say that the builder I used recently published a blog documenting the build which was nice of him.

More photos and much more detail on the link below:
