Has anyone with a Cipollini NK 1K have a problem with the forks catching the downtube when on full lock?

Further to my recent post with ref to my Cipollini NK 1K. I bought a NK 1K from Westbrook Cycles in Stokesley. After just 9 days I noticed a small crack in the head tube going into the downtube. I of course reported the damage to Westbrook, who in turn contacted Paligap, the UK importers. After a few weeks Paligap informed Westbrook that in there opinion the damage was my fault because I had turned the forks onto full lock which in turn cracked the frame. You can imagine what my response was to that!!!!! Of course I tried to speak with the warranty department at Paligap, Graham is the man in charge. Wouldn't even speak to me, he said I had to deal with Westbrook Cycles. Now I have to go on to say that Westbrook have been superb in sorting out my problem to the extent they replaced my frame F.O.C. The broken frame has gone back to Cipollini in Italy for repair at a cost of 400euros. Westbrook are also paying for that. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Your problem (in law) is with the seller, not the importer. That is who you should be dealing with.
Basic UK rights.
It is upto them to try and sort it correctly to yours and the laws satisfaction.

Its not necessary for paligap to respond directly to you. FWIW from experience they're not the best to deal with.

KGT will be along shortly to say there is absolutely nothing wrong with how cipo's are made and are the best constructed in the business, (the lion king personally inspects each one ;)) and warranty isn't a problem with them, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary....

Hope you get it resolved :)

Thanks for the info jekyll man. Although the message I am trying to get across is the fact that Paligap have put the blame on me for the damaged frame. I think it a little strange that it is the importers final word that counts for who is to blame. Today I called in at Hansells Compesits, a carbon fibre specialists in nearby Stokesley. There top man examined the photos, and in his a opinion the frame is faulty. He also went on to say that, no way could turing the forks onto full lock cause a crack on the head tube & downtube!! The head tube being the strongest part of the bike. Can I also point out I have emailed cipollini.com 3 times to date & asked for there thoughts. I am still waiting for a reply!! Once again I have to thank Westbrook Cycles for there outstanding customer services. If they hadn't replaced the frame F.O.C. I shudder to think the position I would be in now!! Even with all my problems with the NK, I have to say that the few times I rode the bike, it is probably the best bike I have ever ridden. A Cipollini Bond being my previous bike for 3 years. Also a top bike!! Maybe just unlucky I got a dodgy frame. Here's hoping the replacement frame has no such problems!!

Bear in mind that Cipollinis' customer service is probably worst in the whole world :) Great bikes but it seems like they have to learn a lot..

It's good to know that Westbrooks are a great shop who are willing to stand by customers as well as the products they sell.
Looked at their website a few times but not bought anything yet.

I really wonder how old are you guys... The dealer is always responsible for any issue with the frame and brucew said that his service was perfect:

he also said that:

Yep, have to say the service from Westbrook has been very good!! After saying that, could be all the dough I've spent in there over the last 20 years might have something to do with it !!!

Thanks brucew, no that's not a custom color, just a 2014 Neri Sottoli team color.
