Updates

Thought I would share a sneak peek of my new winter project. One of, if not the last 2016 Protos from their factory in Cusano Milanino. I requested a tricolore.

Simply amazing!
Any idea why they stopped producing this beauty? IMO that was one of the nicest De Rosa frames ever.

I hope to have the frame by next week. I will weight it, but with color scheme, large size and clear coat I am not expecting a weightweenie.

I haven't decided on wheels, but i would love to try Lightweights or Bora's. Cockpit will be a mix of Time ergodrive, selle Italia, WR Compositi. I will go EPS to compliment my mechanical Time.

The color is wonderful. Great choice and wise choice of components

The Protos is by far the best frame De Rosa produced.

Enjoy it

Woo!!! That is one hell of a looker! Fluo is the new black and I love the red bits! Is the frame in a matte finish because if it is, you'll stay busy trying to keep the frame clean!

Awesome color scheme! Very much looking forward to this build. I think you need to put carbon rims on this one (or black anodized al rims) as the colors will really pop.

I insisted on a clear coat because of the issues I have seen with the matte white frames. See below

I'm doing a matte exposed carbon weave Time aero handlebar. The stem I'm considering is a similar 3k weave WR Compositi stem and matching seatpost. I'll post pics of it later in the thread.

That is a frame I recognise. I am sure I seen the open mold version. Still the paint is very nice and it will make a lovely bike. I hope you do it justice.

There's an open mold for this frame? So, is this nothing more than a paint job, although the killer paint job makes it worth it. Still, I'd be surprised to see De Rosa putting their name on an open mold frame, or at least not one that they didn't have exclusive rights to, but then it wouldn't be "open" any more would it. Looking forward to seeing this one all built up regardless.
