TIME VXRS Ulteam 2006 - Makeover

Here's a frameset that I've had since Nov 2006, with lots of memories..
(as I recall back then, my other alternatives were the Scott Addict, which was a lot cheaper but lighter(?), as well as the Colnago Extreme Power)

The VXRS Ulteam was never the stiffest nor the lightest, but the amount of "tech" TIME actually puts into while designing VXRS frameset was pretty impressive back in 2006, particularly the asymmetrical chainstays, CMT, ISP etc.

As shown below, the weight for the complete "module" as TIME calls it is pretty decent considering the age.
1460grams with fork, TIME QUICKSET headset system with bearings, seatpost/seatpost clamp, RD hanger
(minus TIME stem)

Frameset/fork is currently on its way for a repaint as well some "modifications" to it.
Still contemplating if I should go crazy with sub 5.3kg build (with the typical boutique components, AX, THM etc),
or go for functional/practicality with a Campy 80th Anniversary groupset?

Awesome frame to play with!! A proper piece of history. I would say go with a sensible day to day build but as this is weight weenies I'd love to see an exotic lightweight build.

You could go modern or retro with this frame. It is light enough to do either and still perform well on rides

I'm sure Bettini would approve while Valverde and Zabel lament why they were not riding a VXRS.

Nearly bought an FPX but ended up with a Colnago E1 (2005) so I think should be in your list... I know is heresy as the E1 was built for stomping and not climbing...

awesome bike. I LOVED Time and Look frames back then. As for paint, I've always liked the early Movistar Paint schemes from that time. I'm thinking of single/solid color with accents or lines to accentuate the angles and tube-lug joints.
The speedvagen paint schemes pictured in various and current Eurobike coverage are amazing. I like anything that accentuates Integrated seat posts. They only thing Time has ever made that I don't really like (aesthetically) is that stem.

I love those classic Time frames! They ride very nice. Hard to find one today in that condition.

Yup, one of the best riding frame ever IMHO..
Currently collaborating with Jure on the makeover/modification.
Sub 5.3kg or go standard with 5.8kg?

Classic but light? A clean Campa group with superlight low profile wheels, classic bar with Deda Perforated tape, a light white saddle like AX-Lightness Leaf and FMBtires

No matter how modern and good frames get I always have a Time VXRS on top of my wishlist
