I did ask for purple and I got it. I will send the Kalloy uno stem, campag chainring bolts and the skewers to Steve to anodised the same colour.

I think I might ask BERK to do a saddle with purple highlights. I will need to find some purple bar tape. Sella Italia Smootape looks like it could be the right colour.

Would it be too much to get the front mech anodised purple I think so that might be too garish.

Wow, that frame came out great and the color does not disappoint! Just a small warning: Be careful with your other components though, since different alloys get different tints of the same color, even when anodized in the same bath at the same time. You could easily end up with a mismatched stem, which I'm sure you wouldn't want.

That looks wonderful!!!

I had no idea you could get anodizing that shiny. Is it a special form of anodization?

One way to find out what colour results and that is to get it done if it not right they can be ome silver parts.

taken the KCNC brakes apart tonight. they weighed 178g with BBB holder and pads. I have cleaned them and will be posting to the anodiser along with the stem and skewers to become purple. Almost tempted by cormina cork pads given how light they are (mr black thread).

The frame has gained some weight it is now 1485g. anodising adds more weight than I thought. I am hoping i can shed weight to make up for this cheaply.

Now where to save weight?

I wonder how much weight can be saved by sanding of the clear coat on the forks?

given the bike will be used for some hill climb events. I have just bought Veloflex open record 20mm clinchers. I have a set of Kinlin XR200 rims with purple nipples on novatec hubs that are underused (I have not ridden them for two years). With these tyres I can save some weight again.

Tyres weigh 143 and 148g. Pics to follow of the wheels.

Rear wheel complete
Kinlin XR200 rim 28H
Sapim purple 14mm nipples
black Sapim Laser spokes
Novatec F582 hub
Campagnolo Record Ti 10 speed cassette (full Ti version)
Campagnolo Ti lockring
Velofex Open record 20mm clincher
Continental supersonic inner tube
veloplugs
Weight as listed 1125g

Progress. The brakes and skewers have been anodised. The brakes are 180g with Kool stop pads and holders.
The skewers are 38g.
I think it turning out well.

I have just bought some Schmolke bars of ebay for £150 and I already have an extralite stem so that is more weight saved. Should be down to 6.1ish kg without pedals. Still deciding which pedals to use.

I love the crankset!
Suggestion for a future upgrade: a pair of low profile tubulars.

If the tape will be purple then the saddle will have to be purple as well. saddle and tape must match.

So tape is probably going to be black Cinelli Cork as I have always got on with it. Also Cinelli do a purple tape should I get Berk to do a purple saddle assuming he can of course.

The saddle I bought on ebay recently is a saevid alien but I think it is lost in the post. The seller sent it first class with no tracking silly silly he'll be out of pocket.
I could get Saevid to do a purple one. Then purple tape becomes a reality once I get my money back of course.

Burple rules!

Kgt I was thinking of buy some 16H and 24H 22mm deep carbon tubular rims and lacing them to extralite hubs which I will take apart first and get anodised in purple. Maybe extralite can do this. I can ask. Silver CX super spokes front and CXrays rear with purple nipples. weight 900g or a bit less. That will get the total weight under 6kg. Although this was meant to be a budget build. The budget is becoming flexible as always!

Once I get the expense of the shows out of the way this might happen over winter and the kinlins can go back to being underused.

I have just bought a titanium seat post binder bolt of titanium planet. They did not have purple but they do have black.
A thread in the MTB section/darkside put me onto to this site. 12 euro's inc post is possibly the worst ratio of gram to pounds saving on the bike but hey ho it means I dont have to use a steel part. There is so little ferrous metal on this bike.

Schmolke bars arrived 168g.
Extralite stem 120mm 89g
Saevid Alien saddle 80g
Woodman seatpost cut and with Ti bolts 136g
Deda Spadca expander with record top cap/bolt 29g

those are the latest parts.

Just got to finish of the carbon mech cages and it can be assembled.

Without pedals build should be 6144g

Already thinking about ways to save more grams.
Part weight (g)
frame 1484
fork 329
Campagnolo record top cap and Deda Spadca expander 27
record headset 91
front wheel complete 802
rear wheel complete 1125
skewers 38
Campagnolo Ti lockring 10
record chainset w/fibrelyte rings 505
Royce Ti crank bolts 22
Record BB 191
Mavic 860 rear mech 159
Extralite stem 89
Schmolke bar 168
Bar Tape 50
Campagnolo front mech 83
KMC X11SL 217
Saevid Alien Saddle 80
KCNC CB7 brakes 180
Woodman Carbo EL seatpost 136
cables powercordz Ashima outer 100?
Record brake levers 221
D/T shifters 37
Total 6144

As you can see loads of place to save weight. Wheels could be 400g lighter, Mythic carbon crank will save 100g possibility of a lighter BB plenty of places to get lots of weight.
